DKB ignites hope with Virtual Comedy Show

Renowned Ghanaian comedian, DKB, known in private life as Derrick Kobina Bonney, has disclosed that the deadly coronavirus has crippled the country’s comedy sector.
“Our work is social gathering related, and COVID-19 is against social gathering, making it difficult for people to go out in their numbers for comedy shows. Clearly, this is a total crippling of the sector,” he said.
This notwithstanding, the comedian believes there is hope as he stages first ever Virtual Comedy Show in Ghana, dubbed, ‘Anti-Corona Edition’ on Friday, July 24 at exactly 8:00pm.
The Comedian who is doing this together with other colleagues told The Spectator that though the current situation has brought some limitations, the excitement would be the same.
Performing live on the day are Clemento Suarez, Foster Romanus, OB Amponsah, Lekzy DeComic, Jacinta, MJ the Comedian, Comedian Waris and the man behind the event, DKB.
According to him, there would be limited seats but the rest can pay and enjoy it through a dedicated digital platform, veventgh.com, adding that 10 per cent of the proceeds would be donated to the national COVID-19 Fund to save lives.
DKB further said the virtual version of his Comedy Express show, was to give hope to the players in the industry that all was not lost.
He charged others to explore the window of opportunity virtual platforms provided in order to gradually warm up into a prosperous future.
