Baka Dabri goes back to his root with “Busangani Abrante3” EP

Renowned Zimbabwean Author, Matshona Dhliwayo, once said that “It is in the roots, not the branches, that a tree’s greatest strength lies.”

For this reason, it is always useful for not to forget your roots in a career path.

Interestingly, one of Ghana’s finest Afro Culture artistes, Raphael Somaila Ibrahim, known in showbiz as Baka Dabri has released his debut music project dubbed ‘Busangani Abrante3’ EP under the management of Busanga Music.

The EP is an anthology of songs that reflect the brand and artistry of Baka Dabri fused with Busanga culture, with song like, Mgajiya, Ekiki Me, Corner Corner, Go Back To Hell, and To Aba Pa.

Speaking to The Spectator, the musician revealed that the new wave of ‘Busanga music’ movement said, he is unique, he owns his style and wants to be seen as different from all artistes in Ghana in terms of the type of music he produces.

“I am from the Upper East Region, and as a Busanga, I felt the need to infuse my culture in my music to make me unique and look forward to win the Grammy’s in the nearest future,” he said.

The songwriter and acoustic guitarist further added that though unsung compared with some of the notable names in the Ghanaian music industry, he wass gradually gaining recognition having had the rare privilege of performing on some stages.

 Womba Africa Drumming and Dance ensemble, a traditional cultural troupe in Ghana, is set to embark on an exciting tour of the UK.

Renowned for their use of tradi­tional instruments to create me­lodious, original compositions, the troupe never fails to get audiences on their feet with their high-energy performances.

“Womba” means “We are coming” in the local Ga dialect, and true to their name, the troupe makes a powerful impression wherever they go. Their upcoming UK tour, sched­uled for September and October 2025, promises an immersive cultural experience centered on drumming and dancing.

From September 18 to 20, the troupe will host a workshop and training programme.

This event will delve into the history and origins of various dance styles, showcase traditional costumes and instruments, include storytelling sessions, and provide hands-on train­ing in dance techniques, among other activities.

The workshop will take place at Lewsey Community Centre Landrace Road Luton LU4 OSW.

In an interview with their manager, Felix Nii Okai Nummello, he ex­pressed their anticipation for the world to know how hard work­ing the group has been over the years.

“A lot of preparation is ongoing, and we are surely going to make Africa proud on this tour”, he said.
