Kaya Tours Ghana over the weekend embarked on another Experiential two- day trip to Keta in the Volta Region.
In all, 25 persons were drawn from Kumasi and Accra for the getaway experience.
Since every good domestic tourism product must be beneficial and sustainable to the host community, Kaya Tours ensured the engagement of indigenous people in the service delivery.
On the first night of the stay , about 30 member boborbor cultural troup displayed two hours performance amidst bonfire and folktales by an elderly man who narrated the history and the emergence of Anlo and Ewe people in present day Anloga , Keta , Agbozume etc along the beach.
It was very refreshing as the patrons were treated to local cocktail drinks such as asana , sobolo , lamugin , aduule and nkate cake among others.
On the second day , the revellers woke up to aerobics and beach games before breakfast.
The group visited Fort Prinzenstein built by Danish traders in 1784 for defensive purposes after the Sagbadre War against the Anlos Ewes and to keep the area safe from other colonial powers.
This is a place filled with the Black Africa Slave trade way back and still holds historical background and monuments as well.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kaya Tours, Mr. Abeiku Aggrey Santana entreated Traditional Authorities , Government and Private stakeholders in tourism to come together and work for the interest of the country.
He lamented that Tourism was Private sector driven and as a result government must support tourism players with incentives to promote domestic tourism.
The group enjoyed the aesthetic oldest lighthouse in the country.

Maame Tiwaa of ‘YawSarpong & Asomafo’fame passes on

MAAME TIWAA, the celebrated backing vocalist of legendary gospel group ‘Yaw Sarpong & Asomafo,’ has been reported dead after a short illness. The news of her demise broke in the early hours of Sunday, December 7, 2025.
For decades, Maame Tiwaa stood beside Yaw Sarpong as the soothing female voice of the group. She contributed to numerous gospel classics that continue to inspire believers across the country. Her vocals featured prominently on numerous gospel classics including ‘Wo Haw Ne Sen’, ‘Awurade Ka Me Ho’, ‘Yen Fa Oye Nkoaa’, and ‘Mensuro’. These songs became staples in Christian homes and churches across Ghana, with many believers drawing spiritual upliftment from her performances. Her voice helped establish the Asomafo sound as one of the most influential gospel collectives in the country.
Her last known performances was her tribute to Yaw Sarpong at this year’s TGMA night and at her son’s wedding. In recent months, Maame Tiwa had been actively caring for Yaw Sarpong during his health struggles.
