President Akufo-Addo scraps Office of Senior Minister
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has abolished the Office of the Senior Minister occupied by Yaw Osafo-Marfo in his new government structure.
This was contained in a statement issued by the head of communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin on Thursday.
The statement added that this will result in a total of twenty-eight (28) Ministries, down from the thirty-six (36) of his first term.
The statement said the number of ministers the President will appoint to serve in his second government will not exceed eighty five (85).
This is down from the 120 ministers who served in his previous administration.
Furthermore, it said the President intends to appoint a Minister for Public Enterprises, who will be operating directly under the ambit of the Presidency, and not from a Ministry. The Minister will oversee a major restructuring of the entire state-owned enterprises sector to improve the productivity and profitability of the sector.

Daddy Lumba’s family opens book of condolence, candlelight vigil set for Aug 2
The family of late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has opened a book of condolence at his residence to honour his memory.
The book of condolence will be available to the public from Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his home on Kinshasha Crescent, House Number 12 (GA-332-9264), between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.
In addition, a candlelight vigil will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra. The event, organised in collaboration with the Creative Arts Agency, will begin at 6:00 p.m.
In a statement signed by the family’s lawyer, Fati Ali Yallah, they thanked the public for the overwhelming love and support shown since Daddy Lumba’s passing after a short illness.
They appealed for privacy during this period of mourning and assured that details of the final funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Breaking News: Daddy Lumba is dead – Family announces
Ghanaian music legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has died.
His family confirmed the sad news in a press release issued on Saturday, saying the 60-year-old passed away earlier in the day after a short illness.
“It is with profound sorrow and deep grief that the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana’s beloved musical icon,” the statement read.
Daddy Lumba was one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians. With a career spanning more than three decades, his songs touched millions, telling stories of love, pain, joy, and hope.
He was known for his powerful voice, emotional lyrics, and unique style that made him a household name across the country and beyond.
“His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience,” the family said.
The family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loss and promised to announce funeral arrangements in the coming days.
The statement was signed by Fati Ali Yallah, a lawyer from Baba Jamal & Associates, on behalf of the Fosu family.
Fans, fellow musicians, and Ghanaians across the country have started pouring out tributes on social media, remembering Daddy Lumba’s unmatched contribution to Ghanaian music.
