Police arrest 12 cyber fraudsters for using identities of MPs, ministers, security officers, CEOs, others

The Police through a sustained cyber-intelligence operation have arrested twelve (12) suspects and are pursuing over 25 others for their involvement in cyber-related crimes.

Investigation has established that the modus of the criminal syndicate is to impersonate or hack into  the social media accounts of prominent persons including Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), Heads of  government institutions and corporate entities to defraud unsuspecting victims of various sums of money by promising them jobs, scholarships, publication of fake promotional advertisements and sale of products among others. 

As part of the operation, nine hundred and seventy-three (973) fake social media accounts created by the suspects in the names of these prominent persons and corporate entities have been pulled down. 785 of the fake accounts were in the names of MPs, 62 in the names of security officials,136 for Ministers of State, Ambassadors and some heads of institutions.

The Police have also recovered thirty-two (32) mobile phones, three (3) laptops and fifty-four (54) SIM cards used by the suspects to commit their crimes.

The operation to clamp down on cyber-related crimes has been  institutionalised and we would like to urge anyone who has fallen victim to any of the above-mentioned crimes to contact 0249850601 for further Police action. This is a dedicated number solely for this exercise.

The twelve (12) suspects, Gideon Kove alias Billions, Felicia Nanewortor, Carl Kristal, Safari Zatey, Eric Acquah alias Cent Mona, Richard Agbadzi, Isaac Dortsue alias Barajah, Samuel Gadre, Moses Otchie alias Razak, Yonnah Boso, Sterling Kwame Doe and Wisdom Tornyie are currently assisting the Police investigation and will be put before the court to face justice.

Health Minister leads delegation Mimi Darko’s appointment as AMA Director General

The Agency’s mission is to provide leadership in creating an enabling regulatory environment for the pharmaceutical sector in Africa, ensuring that the African population has access to essential medical products and technologies.

Police arrest five suspects involved in robbery cases in Ashanti Region 

The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in the Ashanti Region has informed the public about a recent breakthrough in the fight against armed robbery in the Denchemuoso District.

Following a series of robbery incidents in the area, on April 22, 2025, PID/Ashanti operatives, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended one Michael Owusu Ansah, alias Baby Last, aged 32. 

The suspect had been on the police wanted list since 2016 in connection with a robbery and the murder of Police Officer G/Cpl Frank Essel of SWAT/Ashanti, which occurred at the Open Space Hotel in Denchemuoso on  May 19, 2016.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to engaging in multiple street and residential robberies in Denchemuoso, Atwima-Techiman, Asuoyeboah, and surrounding areas.

 He also disclosed that his gang operated with knives, pistols, and pump-action guns.

Further investigations led to the identification and arrest of his accomplices, namely:Emmanuel Owusu, alias Cassidy,  Maxwell Gyimah, alias Nana Kwame, Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah, alias The Man Sudais and Rhano Okyere, alias Demon

These individuals were arrested from their hideouts within Atwima-Techiman and Denchemuoso. 

However, one suspect, remains at large and efforts are underway to apprehend him and recover the weapons used in the robberies.

All five arrested suspects were arraigned before the Atasomanso Circuit Court on May 13, 2025.

 They were remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear on June 4, 2025.
