Upper West Regional Police Command secures conviction against notorious robbers

The Upper West Regional Police Command is pleased to announce the conviction and sentencing of Abdulai Ibrahim alias Baba, 34 (Driver Mate) and Abdulai Kipo, 36 (Butcher), for their involvement in conspiracy to commit crimes to wit robbery and robbery.
The duo were found guilty and sentenced to 28 and 18 years imprisonment in Hard Labour, respectively.
The accused persons were implicated in a series of robberies across the Napogbakole, Danko, SSNIT, and Konta areas of the Wa Municipality.
Their arrest and conviction were made possible through intelligence-led investigations and meticulous gathering of evidence by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
The conviction and sentencing were carried out at the Wa Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Jonathan Avoogo.
The court’s verdict underscores the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and safety in the region.
The Upper West Regional Police Command reaffirms its determination to make the region safe for peaceful coexistence and will continue to work tirelessly to combat crime and protect its residents.

Okyeame Kwame amed brand ambassador for Ghacem Super Strong Waterproof cement

Veteran Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has signed a major brand ambassadorial deal with Ghacem.
The “Rap Doctor” was unveiled as the face of Ghacem’s new premium product, Super Strong Waterproof Cement, at a ceremony held at the Ghacem Tema Factory on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Under the deal, Okyeame Kwame will lead promotion of the waterproof cement, which is designed to block moisture and prevent dampness in walls. The product targets homeowners and contractors dealing with Ghana’s humid climate and rainy seasons.
High-ranking Ghacem executives attended the signing. They included Managing Director Dr. Frank Huber, Commercial Director Mr. Kwasi Kyere, and Marketing & PR Lead Frank Antwi Agyapong.
Okyeame Kwame arrived at the event with his wife, Annica Nsiah-Apau, and their two children, making it a family affair as he begins his new role with the cement giant.
The partnership adds to Okyeame Kwame’s growing portfolio of brand deals, positioning him as one of Ghana’s most trusted celebrity endorsers.

Fire breaks out at Accra Central Police barracks

A fire outbreak has been reported at the Accra Central Police Barracks, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service.
According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on June 3, firefighters were at the scene working to bring the situation under control.
The statement said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board and the Accra Regional Police Commander, visited the location to assess the situation and ensure that the necessary support was provided to affected personnel.
Police indicated that no casualties had been recorded as of the time of the release.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The Police Service expressed appreciation to personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and police officers assisting with efforts to manage the incident.
The statement further noted that a suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
However, no further details were provided regarding the individual’s alleged connection to the incident.
The Police Service assured the public that updates on the situation would be communicated as investigations and emergency response efforts continue.
