Ghana’s Afronita, Abigail makes Africa proud at 2024 BGT

Abigail and Afronita
Ghanaian dance duo Afronita and Abigail dazzled at this year’s 2024 Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) show after placing third in a grueling finale on Sunday.
Right from the auditioning stage, the duo had been the toast of fans with their energetic dance moves and creativity on stage, earning them a place at the finals of the global talent show.
As expected, they wowed the judges and audience with their stage craft and electrifying performance, raising high the flag of Ghana and Africa at large as they emerged among the top three out of the 10 finalists.
Singer Sydnie Christmas took the top prize while magician Jack Rhodes came second with dancers Abigail and Afronita settling for the third position.
Though many Ghanaians expected them to win, the third position was still a significant feat for the Africans on that global stage.
They had since massive plaudits from Ghanaians home and abroad for making a statement on the global platform.
The winner of the 17th series of BGT, Sydnie Christmas received a cash prize of £250,000 and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
Though Afronita and Abigail missed out on the top prize, it was a great experience for the duo as they would ride on the exposure to attempt other global events.

Osanju is dead

Popular Ghanaian content creator, Elvis Frimpong, known in showbiz circles as Osanju has been reported dead.
According to sources, he was said to have died in the early hours on Monday, September 1, 2025 after a long battle with blood cancer (Leukemia)
His death has been a shock in the Ghanaian community especially coming shortly after his last post.
His demise comes five months after he had laid his mother, Amounu, also a tiktoker, to rest, having lost her in January.
Hours before his passing, he had posted a video on Sunday with friends watching the Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano match, prompting many fans to initially dismiss the reports as a hoax.
Osanju’s death has been described as a huge loss by followers who admired his openness, resilience and positive outlook in the face of ill health.
However, Osanju had previously shared his battle with leukemia, a cancer of the blood, on his TikTok account, even eerily predicting his own demise on a couple of occasions.
