Premier League: Accra Lions grab vital win against Medeama

Lucky Nwafor’s match-winning penalty gave Accra Lions a precious 1–0 win over Medeama to move just above the relegation zone in the Premier League on Saturday, January 25, 2024.
Nwafor’s second-half penalty separated the two teams at the University of Ghana Stadium.
In an action-packed first half, it was the brilliance of goalkeeper Daniel Afful that kept Lions in the game, making three greats saves to deny the visitors.
Afful spectacularly punched away a ferocious strike from Prince Owusu, before denying Richard Dwumah moments later.
After the break, Accra Lions lifted their play, creating several chances.
Following a wave of attacks, Youssif forced a penalty after his cross hit the hand of a Medeama defender and the referee was right there to award a penalty.
Nwafor elected himself for the spot kick and made no mistake, sending Felix Kyei the wrong way.
