Mrs Asomah-Hinneh,‘Yaa Asantewaa’ of the Western re¬gion brings end to long-term dispute

This is the exact description of the Member of the Council of State for the Western Region, Mrs Eunice Jacqueline Asomah-Hinneh.
Mrs Asomah-Hinneh is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of La¬bianca Company Limited, one of the most successful cold storage facilities in the country.
She is a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman with 35 years of experience, running businesses between Ghana and Italy.Born on June 24, 1964, she attained tertiary education from the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) from 1981 to 1983. She is married with four children
In an interview with The Specta¬tor last week, she said “ I have the knack for driving business results and maximising profitability through the delivery of exceptional product, quality service and prudent manage¬ment of people and processes.”
She said, her expertise include product management, business devel¬opment, partnership development, supplier and vendor relations as well as strategic planning and growth.
Mrs Asomah-Hinneh could also be best described as the ‘Yaa As¬antewaa’ of the Western Region as she helped restore peace among the paramount chiefs in the region.
This act, brought an end to three-year of leadership dispute among the members of the Western Regional House of Chiefs following their Octo¬ber 2020 elections.
Also, she has engaged in several activities in line with her mandate as a regional representative on the Council of State.
With the stool name, Nana Akwanzi Abraba IV, she said she was actively involved in the constitutional man¬date of counselling the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Ad¬do. She also engaged parliament, ministers and public and private institutions to solicit views on all manner of issues before she proffered her advice.
For her achievements in the region, she solely financed the construction of a multi-purpose oil and gas inter¬national conference facility situated on a six-acre land at Ampain in the Elembelle district. The land was donated by the chiefs and people of Western region.
The facility comprised of a 800-seater capacity auditorium, 50 seater conference room, three committee rooms, seven chalet-type office complexes for the seven par¬amount chiefs and queen mothers of the Nzema Male council, two admin¬istrative blocks and a durbar ground for indoor activities .
Described as a mother of the region, she also visited the all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to acquire first-hand information on the challenges of the people in order to offer the needed advice on how best such problems could be addressed.
During the tour, she said “I inter¬acted with other major stakeholders in the region, held periodic meet¬ings with both political and tradi¬tional leaders of the region as well as organised capacity building and investment programmes all aimed at supporting and equipping them with the requisite tool for development.”
Known as a person who has the region at heart, Nana Akwanzi Abra¬ba IV led a cross-section of people including chiefs, queenmothers, businessmen and traders from the Western region on a tour to the Unit¬ed Arab Emirates and five European countries namely Germany, Italy, France, Holland and Belgium.
She said, the aim of the tour was to help them acquire knowledge and learn from other jurisdictions on best practices for community develop¬ment and also market the region to the world.
CHIEFTAINCY DISPUTES
Touching on the spate of chief¬taincy disputes in the region, Nana Akwanzi Abraba IV said, the situation had robbed the Regional House of Chiefs of its members saying “the house is supposed to have 16 mem¬bers but currently has 10 active paramountcies.”
Nana Akwanzi Abraba IV therefore urged the chiefs and all stakehold¬ers to work together to resolve all pending chieftaincy disputes in the region both at the divisional and par¬amountcy levels.
She pledged to help the region to dispute-free and continue to use her resources to promote the course of the house.
APPRECIATION
Mrs Asomah-Hinneh said it was an honour done her by the chiefs to re¬spond to her call to find an amicable resolution to the dispute.
According to her, for the chiefs to allow her lead them to unite was a sign that they wanted development for the region.
“It is my hope to help provide strategic leadership to harness both human and material resources at the region’s disposal for its integrated development, “Nana Akwanzi Abraba IV said.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Intelligence Directorate has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery attack on an Indian national in Obuasi and a separately planned robbery operation targeting a distribution company in the same area.
On April 16, 2026, Police received credible intelligence that a group of armed men were planning an attack in Obuasi. A police team moved swiftly into the area and arrested suspect Iddrisu Fuseini, also known as “Iddi”, at his hideout in Bedieso, Obuasi.
During interrogation, he confessed to being part of a six-member gang that attacked an Indian national at his residence at New Baakoyeden, Obuasi, on April 12 2026, robbing him of GH₵150,000.00.
He disclosed that the attack was orchestrated following a tip-off from suspect Ibrahim, an employee of the victim, who informed the gang that the victim kept large sums of money.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Shaibu Mohammed, also known as “SM” or “Cicinati”, on 20th April 2026 at his hideout in Gausu, Obuasi. During interrogation, he admitted to participating in the planning of the robbery and confirmed that the gang had further planned to rob a distribution company near Mawuli Hotel in Obuasi.
Investigations have further revealed that both suspects are currently standing trial at the Obuasi Circuit Court in connection with a separate robbery of GH₵600,000.00.
A manhunt is ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices, identified as Khalifa, Edward, Prof, Waddle, Ebbe, and Ibrahim, and to recover a pump action gun and a locally manufactured pistol believed to be in their possession.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), on April 17, 2026, decorated nineteen (19) senior officers who have been promoted to their next ranks based on the recommendations of the Police Council and approval of the President, John Dramani Mahama.
The ceremony, held at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, forms part of efforts to recognise merit, dedication, and long-standing service within the Ghana Police Service, while strengthening leadership across key operational and administrative levels.
The officers promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP) are Dr. Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Mr. Frederick Agyei, Mr. Duuti Tuaruka, Mr. Arthur Osei-Akoto, Mr. Darko Offei Lomotey, Mr. Eric Ken Winful, Mr. Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Mr. Desmond Owusu Boampong.
The IGP and members of POMAB congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
