I have experience to lead young players – Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey says he has the experience to lead the Black Stars in this month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic.
Ghana will play Mali in Bamako on Thursday, before hosting Central African Republic on Monday, June 10, 2024.
The return of the former Atletico Madrid star is seen as a major boost to the team after missing out on International football for almost eight months.
Thomas Partey missed the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire as well as two international friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda in March this year.
‘’They have shown that in their recent games as my Coach said. We have to do our best. We have to stop them, stop their best players and also concentrate on our way of playing and try to get the results we want’’ the Arsenal midfielder said.
He added, ‘’I think I have been out for a while. I came back during the season and finished very well. I have played a lot of games for the national team and I know how we have to play.’’
‘’I know the system that the coach wants and I think with the experience I have, I will be able to get the team together and also to lead the young players who are coming in to be able to get in quite easy’’ Partey added.
The 31-year-old will lead Ghana against Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group I qualifier on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Thomas Partey has scored 13 goals in 47 appearances since his debut in May 2016.

Diaspora Affairs Office hosts African diaspora delegation ahead of citizenship conferment

The Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President has hosted a delegation of African diaspora women who are in Ghana ahead of a planned Presidential Conferment of Citizenship ceremony.
The Director of Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko, explained in a Facebook post that the visit was a gesture of appreciation by the delegation to the Government of Ghana for its continued efforts to reconnect Africans in the diaspora with their ancestral homeland.
He indicated that the ceremony, scheduled for next Monday, will officially grant Ghanaian citizenship to members of the delegation as part of the country’s broader engagement with the African diaspora.
The delegation was led by Erica Bennett, Founder of the Diaspora Africa Forum.
According to Mr Okyere Darko, her years of advocacy have played an important role in strengthening ties between Africa and people of African descent living abroad.
He noted that the group’s journey towards citizenship represents not only a legal process but also a cultural and spiritual return to their roots.
Also present at the meeting was Natalie Jackson, an attorney who is also expected to receive Ghanaian citizenship during the ceremony. She works closely with renowned civil rights lawyer Ben Crump.
Mr Okyere Darko emphasised that Ghana remains committed to strengthening relationships with the African diaspora and promoting unity, identity, and shared heritage among people of African descent worldwide.
