Published

The acting chief of Amomoley and Head of the Tetteh Okoe family has appealed to the security services to deal with usurpers in chieftaincy matters.

He said most often than not, these usurpers, who are not royals and eligible to the throne, use money, some security men, and inducements to be made chiefs.

Nii Ashitey Tetteh made the appeal last Saturday at Amomoley near Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region, when he addressed family members, and sympathisers during the one-year observance of the passing of the late chief of Amomoley, Nii Tetteh Okpe II, who ruled for over two decades.

He cited an example where one Gad Nii Tettey Commey with the connivance of others got himself installed as a chief of Amomoley.

Nii Tetteh said that his purported installation was declared null or void by the Judicial Committee of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council on May 25, 2023.

He said the Judicial Committee chaired by Nii Daddey awarded a cost of GH¢10,000 against Nii Tetteh Commey.

He declared at the gathering that it was the turn of Nii Tetteh Onukpa We to select somebody to be installed a chief.

Nii Ashittey Tetteh urged them to select somebody who was not only competent and legitimate, but also a unifier, who would promote peace and development.

Rev. Moses Ashaley Ashley of the Anafi Circuit Methodist Church, Sekondi, prayed for the late chief’s soul to continue resting in peace.

The ceremony was attended by a retinue of sub-chiefs, family members and sympathisers.
