Integrity Magazine, a subsidiary of Krif Ghana Limited, has held the maiden edition of a series of webinars aimed at promoting good corporate governance amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Themed “Effects of COVID-19 on Good Corporate Governance in Ghana”, which was held on Tuesday in Accra, it served as a platform for businesses to discuss the next strategic steps to take in order to sail through the coronavirus crisis with minimal losses.
Speaking on the effects of the pandemic on companies, Rev. Kennedy Okosun, Executive Chairman of Krif Ghana Limited and Publisher of the Integrity Magazine, said many organisations would “have to brace themselves for the possibility of take-overs”.
According to him, “there might be critical unanswered questions rummaging through the minds of many as we move into a period of a new normal.
“Our culture, corporate behaviour and organisational output are going to be affected, whether we like it or not. Organisations will never go back to doing business as usual, or doing business the way they knew how,” he said.
Rev. Okosun noted that businesses must be ready to embrace the positive or negative changes which may occur after the pandemic, adding that businesses would also have to make far “reaching decisions regarding liquidity and capital considerations”.
He argued that the COVID-19 era was also testing the leadership and management structures of organizations, hence the need for businesses to identify gaps and then strengthen the areas where they may be falling short.
Mr Michael Osikoya, the Chief Executive Officer of Mikensy Consulting Limited, examining the effects of COVID-19 on various stakeholders, also said, “Just as we are recording human fatality, we may not be able to account for the number of businesses that suffer similar ‘fatality’ from the hands of COVID -19.”
He noted that though the pharmaceutical industry was believed to have benefited from the crisis, industries including tourism and leisure, aviation and maritime, automotive, construction, real estate and manufacturing, were hard-hit by the pandemic.
“Government has been affected adversely by this virus because it has had to provide various stimulus packages and dole out free cash to support various stakeholders, interest groups, businesses and citizens.
“Hard decisions had to be taken, government has lost income from taxes and has resorted to borrowing as part of measures to bring the economy back on track,” he added.
For the solutions, Mr Osikoya suggested that business, leaders and stakeholders should enter into a “restart” mode to come out of the challenges the virus has imposed on them.
He said that all the various stakeholders in business such as the shareholders, employees, customers and others must forfeit certain benefits to bring back businesses on track.
The webinar brought together leaders from various organisations in the corporate environment in Ghana.

The Executive Director of Human Resource Intermediaries Ghana Limited, Dr Dorcas Beeko Mangesi, has been honoured as the Most Outstanding Female in HR Outsourcing and Business Easing at the 12th Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards 2026.
Receiving the award, Dr Mangesi expressed excitement over the recognition, describing it as an acknowledgement of her contributions to the human resource outsourcing industry.
She explained that Human Resource Intermediaries Ghana Limited is an HR outsourcing firm that manages workers on behalf of companies and also provides recruitment and training services.
According to her, the award reflects the impact of her work over the years and motivates her to do even more.
“I have contributed a lot to the industry and for me to be recognised at this level shows that the work I have done over the years has been recognised,” she said.
Dr Mangesi noted that this was her first time receiving such an award and also her first participation in the Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards.
She described the recognition as unique because it serves as a personal brand and highlights the achievements of women in leadership positions.
According to her, the award is also a symbol of women empowerment and should inspire young women to pursue their careers with determination.
She urged young girls to take their education seriously, remain focused and work hard despite the challenges women often face in the corporate world.
She observed that although men continue to dominate many areas of business, women who remain committed and give their best can rise through the ranks and earn recognition.
“I am an example. I am speaking from experience,” she said.
Dr Mangesi expressed appreciation to the organisers of the awards for recognising her work in the HR outsourcing industry.
She thanked her team members for their support, saying their efforts contributed to her success.
In addition, she expressed gratitude to her husband for his encouragement throughout her career and thanked everyone who has supported her journey.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election process at Bidieso in Obuasi.
The suspects, Haruna Iddrisu alias Dole, Osei Boateng alias Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku alias Blackman, stormed the polling station on July 12, 2026 armed with offensive weapons, scattered ballot boxes, and threatened election officials and voters.
A Police reinforcement team swiftly intervened and arrested the suspects, retrieving one axe and one cutlass during the operation.
The suspects were subsequently put before the Bekwai Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely rioting with weapons, and rioting with weapons.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of GHS50,000.00 with two justified sureties.
The case has been adjourned to August 2026, while investigations continue and efforts are underway to arrest other persons suspected to be involved in the incident.
