Bishop Dr Adonteng Boateng: A life of faith, service, and impact

Bishop Dr Adonteng Boateng, a Ghanaian-American theologian and philanthropist, continues to inspire through his unwavering commitment to faith, community service, and humanitarian work.
As General Overseer of the Divine Word International Ministries based in Virginia, USA, Bishop Boateng has earned global recognition for a life devoted to uplifting others.
Born in Bukom, a vibrant community in the Greater Accra Region, Bishop Boateng’s journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim is a testament to resilience, service, and divine purpose.
With a strong foundation in Christian values, he has dedicated decades to ministering to souls and offering hope to the underprivileged, both in Ghana and abroad.
Bishop Boateng studied Biblical Counseling and Theology at Collins University in Ohio, where his passion for ministry was deepened. In 2011, he was awarded a honourary Doctor of Divinity in recognition of his outstanding contributions to spiritual growth and social impact.
His teachings are rooted in compassion and transformation, urging believers to embrace faith as a tool for positive change. But Bishop Boateng is not only a man of words; he is also a man of action.
His courage made international headlines when he heroically rescued a young child from the wreckage of a burning truck in the U.S. The selfless act brought immense relief to the child’s mother and reinforced the Bishop’s core belief in service beyond the pulpit.
In July 2025, he was honoured with the Africa Impact Personality of the Year Award (Philanthropy Category) at the African Ambassadors Economic Forum held in Washington, D.C.
The award, presented by the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Africa (GIAA) and Hope Edge International USA, lauded his outstanding humanitarian contributions to the African continent.
The citation was endorsed by prominent figures including Dr Nelson Aluya, President of Hope Edge International USA; Dr Utchay Odims, President of GIAA; and Dr David James Egwu, Co-founder and Managing Director of GIAA, who praised Bishop Boateng’s sustained commitment to improving lives.

In Ghana, his love for humanity is evident through the Divine Privileged Home, an ultra-modern orphanage that provides shelter, education, and healthcare to orphans and widows. In the U.S., he continues to support minority youth, especially through the Unknown Stars Award-a scholarship programme dedicated to empowering underrepresented students to pursue academic excellence and leadership.
He also founded the Faithful Servants Awards, a unique platform that honours civilians, first responders, and law enforcement officers for their dedication to public safety and community welfare.
Bishop Boateng is married to Ewura Adonteng Boateng, with whom he has four children. While committed to his calling in ministry, he remains equally passionate about expanding his charitable reach-supporting educational initiatives, providing scholarships, and uplifting vulnerable communities across the globe.
The receipt of his latest honour in July-his birth month, celebrated on July 21- holds special meaning, adding a personal milestone to a career already rich with accomplishments.
Bishop Dr Adonteng Boateng stands today as a shining example of faith in action. His life’s work continues to be a source of hope, a symbol of compassion, and a beacon of servant leadership for generations to come.

NPP to file complaint against NDC’s Sofo Azorka

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will lodge a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service against the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 1st National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, over alleged threats and acts of violence.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said Chief Sofo Azorka and the Abuakwa North Constituency Communication Officer of the NDC, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu, had issued death threats against some of its senior members.
Those threatened include the Minority Leader, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, and Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh.
The Party also accused Chief Azorka and his group of physically attacking its 3rd National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu.
According to the NPP, such actions undermine Ghana’s democratic progress and could fuel insecurity, especially as the country recently slipped in the Global Peace Index rankings.
The Party is therefore calling on the Inspector General of Police to arrest and investigate Chief Sofo Azorka, Alhaji Abdul Wahab, and others seen in videos circulating in the media.
It stressed that the alleged violent conduct was reckless and must be investigated and punished.

Akwatia by-elections underway

Voting has begun in the Akwatia Constituency by-election today, Tuesday, with more than 52,000 registered voters expected to cast their ballots.
Polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m., according to the Electoral Commission (EC).
The by-election was triggered by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, on July 7, 2025.
Before his death, Ernest Kumi had faced a series of legal battles over his 2024 victory in the constituency, including a High Court injunction, a contempt case, and an appeal that ended at the Supreme Court.
The election is being contested by candidates from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and smaller political parties.
Security agencies have been deployed across the constituency to ensure peace and order during the voting process.
The EC has assured the public of a free, fair, and transparent exercise.
Ballot counting will begin immediately after polls close, with results expected later tonight.
