Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has officially handed – over renovated secretariat of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in Takoradi in the Western Region to the executives.
First phase of the renovated office and conference facility, located within the premises of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Windy Ridge, Takoradi, funded by ECG, saw the remodelling of the main office, replacement of broken louvre blades and structure into a full glass office.
ECG again painted the office structure, provided a television set and a satellite dish for the WR GJA secretariat. It has also promised to rewire the entire structure.
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday, the Western Regional General Manager of ECG, Ing. Emmanuel Justice Ofori, who spoke on behalf of the Managing Director of the ECG, expressed the company’s willingness to see a more vibrant association in the region.
GJA, he hoped, would continue to champion the course and expectations of the public and also educate them on their roles and responsibilities as Ghanaians towards public institutions such as the ECG.
Ing. Ofori said, ECG was impressed with GJA’s support for the company in promoting its efforts and innovations to supply reliable and safe electricity to its customers, especially in times of difficulties.
GJA Chairman in Western Region, Mr. Desmond Cudjoe, thanked ECG for being the first institution to heed to the association’s calls for assistance to get a befitting office space for their operations.
He recalled that the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC), released the office in appreciation of the invaluable contribution the GJA and the entire media fraternity towards the development of the Western Region and Ghana as a whole.

President John Dramani Mahama has approved a reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat, resulting in new appointments and reassignments within the security structure.
The changes were announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Under the reorganisation, Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations.
Mr. Yaw Donkor, who previously served as National Security Coordinator, has been reassigned as Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
The President also appointed Mr. Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport.
Ms. Faustina Effah-Boadi has been named Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, while DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri has been appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
In addition, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
According to the statement, all the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.
The statement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President as well as Minister for Government Communications.
The Presidency indicated that the changes form part of efforts to strengthen the National Security Council Secretariat and improve its operations.

The Ministry of Health has rejected claims that Ghana is facing a shortage of antiretroviral medicines (ARVs) used in the treatment of HIV.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the ministry responded to concerns raised by the Network of Persons Living with HIV in Ghana (NAP+ Ghana) and assured the public that the medicines remain available at designated health facilities across the country.
The ministry stated that it was inaccurate to suggest that ARVs were unavailable in Ghana. According to it, patients can continue to receive treatment and care at approved health facilities.
It explained that it was currently restocking medical commodities at the Medical Stores as part of its routine procurement and supply programme. The ministry added that plans were far advanced to complete the restocking process and ensure continuous availability of medicines.
The statement noted that the ongoing efforts were aimed at ensuring timely distribution of ARVs and other essential health commodities to health facilities nationwide.
The ministry denied reports that antiretroviral medicines had expired at the port. It indicated that it was working with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective management and timely clearance of medical supplies.
According to the ministry, it has engaged NAP+ Ghana and assured the organisation of its open-door policy in addressing concerns related to the availability and distribution of ARVs.
The ministry further stated that it remained committed to working constructively with all stakeholders to ensure that persons living with HIV have uninterrupted access to the medicines and health services they need.
It assured the public, especially persons living with HIV, that it would continue to take the necessary measures to guarantee the availability and fair distribution of antiretroviral medicines across Ghana.
