President Mahama inaugurates Goldbord Task Force
This morning, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, joined President John Dramani Mahama for the inauguration of the Goldbord Task Force at the National Security Secretariat in Accra.
The task force, comprising the National Security, Ghana Police Service and the Military, is tasked with enforcing laws to prevent the exploitation of Ghana’s natural resources and resetting the gold sector to ensure that the Goldbord fulfills its mandate.
President Mahama called on Ghanaians to support the government in reversing the old trends in the gold business, enabling Ghanaians to take control of their natural resources and reap the benefits.
He assured that the task force members would be equipped with body cameras while on duty and their vehicles would be tracked to ensure accountability.
The President urged the task force members to work professionally, with discipline, and warned that anyone who falls foul of the law would face punishment, including possible job loss and forfeiture of entitlements.
The Goldbord initiative aims to regulate and oversee the gold industry, ensuring that Ghanaians benefit maximally from their natural resources.
Its primary objective is to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible mining practices, thereby maximizing revenue for the state and improving the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

Minister for Foreign Affairs meets Ambassador of Spain to Ghana
On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), held a meeting with the Ambassador of Spain to Ghana, H.E Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo to discuss ongoing areas of cooperations between the two countries.
The Minister and the Ambassador stressed the need for comprehensive implementation of agreements that have already been signed and called for new areas of cooperation taking into account the current global dynamics.
They then reaffirmed the commitment of the two countries to work closely for mutual benefit, with a common vision of enhancing bilateral relations.

Suspended Chief Justice Gertrude
Torkornoo sues Ghana at ECOWAS Court – Deputy AG reveals
Suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has filed a suit against Ghana at the ECOWAS Court.
The suspended Chief Justice in her case before the court has cited human rights violations.
The Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Justice Srem Sai took to his Twitter page to announce this development.
“I can confirm that the Chief Justice – Her Ladyship, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo – has filed another court case – this time, at the ECOWAS Community Court in Abuja, Nigeria, against the Republic,” he wrote.
He added that “In the case, which was filed on July 4, Her Ladyship repeated the same allegations of human rights violations which are currently pending determination before our Supreme Court and, also, before our High Court in respect of the ongoing removal processes.”
According to him, essentially, Her Ladyship argues that by her suspension, she “has effectively been removed from her official capacity without a final determination, impairing her right to function and serve in a position she was constitutionally appointed to.”
