The Chiefs and people of the Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Area in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region celebrated their annual Kundum Festival after three-year break due to the COVID-19.

This year Kundum Festival was under the theme “Developing Women’s Entrepreneurial Capabilities-The Way Forward”.

The President and Paramount Chief of Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame 11 said the total empowerment of women in the various departments and organizations would bring massive development to Ghana.

He said if women were occupying over 70 per cent of companies in Ghana more people would have been empowered to run their own business and provide more employment to the youth in the country.

He said women were more sympathetic and would have worked hard to sustain any business they headed to make better financial gains for their communities and the country at large.

Awulae Agyefi Kwame appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), International Organizations and philanthropists to channel more resources to women groups in order to build their capacities to turn the economy of the country into a better position.

He said the Traditional Council was partnering with Invest in Africa to build the capacities of all Queen Mothers and Women Leaders in his area who would also train all women in their respective communities on how to manage their businesses.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East, Madam Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah said women should should take their businesses serious in order to cater for their children and the family as a whole.

She said women were the backbone of the future of the country so the care of the family if not protected by women would bring so many problems to the family and the country at large.

The Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, Mr.Kofi Arko Nokoe said because of the lack of jobs for the youth we should team up with other organizations to bring job opportunities for the youth.

He said coconut was being carried out to Nigeria where they used the coconut fruits for ice cream youghout, toffees and others. He urged the chiefs to team up with some business people to come and open small factories to employ the youth since the people could not rely solely on government for employment.

He said Nzemaland was very rich with tourism attraction areas which could be tapped so that many of the tourists who came into Ghana should not limit themselves to Nzulezu, the village on stilts in water but visit the forts dotted over the other areas.
