Awasumanhene, Nana Bofobene IV, the paramount chief of the Dwenim Awasu traditional area in the Jaman South Constituency, has placed great confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that the future of Ghana rests in his hands.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Vice President, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, the chief praised Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and vision for the country.
The Awasumanhene emphasized that Bawumia’s role as Vice President has demonstrated his capability to steer Ghana toward a prosperous future, particularly in the areas of digitalization, economic reform, and technological innovation.
He noted that Dr. Bawumia’s forward-thinking policies could secure a better future for the next generation, urging Ghanaians to rally behind his candidacy.
Nana Bofobene IV also pointed out the challenges faced by the people of the Jaman South Constituency, including inadequate infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
He expressed his hope that Dr. Bawumia’s leadership would bring much-needed development to the area and help improve the livelihoods of the people. The chief’s message underscored the importance of leadership that prioritizes the welfare of all Ghanaians.
Nana Bofobene IV called on the people of the constituency to support Dr. Bawumia’s bid for the presidency in the 2024 elections, believing that his leadership holds the key to unlocking Ghana’s potential.
He wished the Vice President success in his campaign and expressed optimism that his presidency would lead to lasting positive change for the country.
“Even though you don’t hail from here, we don’t see you as such because your good deeds are following you. You are not an ordinary mate, but you have probed issues and seen the policies that you can make the country progress,”he said.
“The second independence of Ghana, we are taking it from you. The future of Ghana to be and to my people rests in your hands,” he stated.
The Paramount Chief of Bamvum, Abdulai Ziblim, has donated a one-acre plot of land at Jongshegu, a suburb of Tamale, to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for the construction of a new fire station.
The Northern Regional Commander of the GNFS, ACFO I Joseph Koranteng, led a delegation to formally accept the land and expressed appreciation to the Chief for his commitment to public safety.
The proposed fire station is expected to improve emergency response times and strengthen fire safety coverage as Jongshegu and surrounding communities continue to expand rapidly.
The Chief called on stakeholders to support the swift development of the facility, while ACFO I Koranteng described the donation as a strong example of collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions to protect lives and property.

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects for allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos”, in Ghana.
According to NACOC, the arrests followed the reported seizure of a cocaine shipment by French customs, which is allegedly linked to a wider drug trafficking network.
The Commission indicated that the three suspects are currently in its custody and assisting investigators to establish their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.
NACOC, in a statement dated September 14, 2026, said the arrests form part of efforts to prevent Ghana from becoming a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug trafficking organisations.
The Commission stressed that it would continue to work with both local and international law enforcement agencies to disrupt the individuals, finances and infrastructure supporting the illegal drug trade.
It assured that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation would be respected.
Jos Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos”, is a Dutch fugitive who has been linked to international drug trafficking activities.
