Restore beauty of Kwame Nkrumah Circle area / State of Kwame Nkrumah Circle an eyesore!

Small size quarry stones fixed at open spaces under the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange was to leave the place open and free from activities of beggars and other activities of the homeless.
By the way the stones were fixed, it makes the area, particularly the VIP and Neoplan Station stretch of the Interchange, inhabitable by the destitute.
But a walk through the area currently suggest the opposite.
At the median where pavement blocks have been taken over by these homeless and destitute, the area has been turned into a hotel where a number of these unfortunate ones have comfortably laid their mattresses and other stuff to rest from the day’s activities.
They have crossed over to the SSNIT and Kaneshie Station area with their activities and have removed the quarry stones which were to ward them off the place to enable them find spaces to sleep comfortably.

The pavement blocks removed from different locations under the interchange now serves as foundations on which beds were laid and in some cases, mosquito nets erected.
Their continued presence is not only creating a nuisance for commuters but marring the beauty and serenity of the place.
Sadly, the activities of these deprived fellows have been ignored while the numbers keep increasing day by day.
The Spectator finds the development very worrying and calls on the responsible authorities to clear the area to restore the beauty and serenity of the area.

I rely on ideas, not money to win support – Dr. Bawumia

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that unlike some of his opponents, he does not depend on money to win the support of party members.
According to him, his strength lies in his track record, vision and ideas that have impacted millions of Ghanaians rather than financial influence.
“I demonstrate my strength by getting results, not by making noise or by insults or bragging about money,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia made these remarks at the NPP headquarters in Accra after filing his nomination papers to contest the flagbearer position.
He addressed a large gathering of party supporters and outlined his ambition to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections and ultimately the presidency in 2029.
The former Vice President reminded delegates that for over 16 years, he had dedicated his time, knowledge and reputation to the success of the party.
He stressed that his visibility and hard work across the country positioned him as the most prepared candidate, insisting that the NPP should not “start afresh from zero” but build on its existing strength.
Dr. Bawumia further urged party members to look beyond monetary influence in the flagbearer contest and rather focus on competence, unity and vision.
He said the 2028 elections would be crucial for the party and called on supporters to rally behind him to secure victory.

Let’s focus criticism on the NDC rather than ourselves – Bawumia urges internal opponents

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to stop attacking one another and rather focus their criticism on the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said this in an address after filing his nomination papers to contest the NPP’s flagbearer, and addressed a mammoth crowd to outline his vision for Ghana.
A four-time running mate, a two-term Vice President and the NPP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2024 polls, Dr. Bawumia told party delegates that the real opponent was the NDC and not members of their own party.
He warned that internal squabbles, tribal and religious attacks could weaken the NPP ahead of the 2028 elections.
“We must not just talk about unity; we must live it. What we say against each other is what the NDC will use against us in 2028,” he stressed, urging contestants in the flagbearer race to focus on presenting their vision rather than tearing each other down.
Dr. Bawumia outlined his track record as Vice President, citing policies such as the Ghana Card, Mobile Money Interoperability, Agenda 111, and the Zipline Drone Delivery project.
He argued that his experience and popularity across the country made him the most prepared candidate to lead the NPP to victory in 2028.
He pledged to expand the economy with what he described as “rich ideas,” including a flat tax system, constituency-based development, support for local industries, and policies to reduce the cost of living for ordinary Ghanaians.
The former Vice President further accused the NDC of deceiving voters with lofty promises in 2024, saying many of those promises were already failing.
According to him, the NPP needed to present a strong, united front to hold the government accountable and win back power in 2028.
Dr. Bawumia urged the grassroots to rally behind him to rebuild and reposition the party, assuring them that he would dedicate himself fully to the NPP and to Ghana.
