Stratcomm Africa distributes nose masks to commercial drivers in Accra

Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa), Ghana’s premier total communications agency in collaboration with internationally recognised luxury fashion house, Christie Brown, last Friday presented face masks to commercial drivers at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle bus terminal in Accra.
This donation done in partnership with “TroTro TV”, a public transport advertising platform, followed the surge in the reported cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.
Stratcomm Africa has been actively involved in the fight against COVID-19 since the outset of the pandemic.
Through its cartoon series, titled: “Koo, The COVID Prefect,” the company had endeavoured to educate Ghanaians on safety protocols and prevention guidelines.
Through its partnership with TroTro TV the cartoon series aired daily on the popular TroTro TV, in about 300 vehicles, reach thousands of commuters daily.
The production formed part of a larger campaign to facilitate among Ghanaians an understanding and appreciation of the severity of the virus and take necessary precautions to stay safe in everyday situations, such as using public transport or gathering in busy transit areas.
Stratcomm Africa said the distribution of masks to the commercial drivers was to reinforce the need for citizens to understand and practise behaviours that reduced the spread of COVID -19.
Presenting the face masks, Stratcomm Africa Business Development Manager, Kofi Baah-Boakye stressed the need for Ghanaians to remain vigilant in the fight against the disease.
“Stratcomm Africa will continue to use the communications excellence that it has come to be known for, to reach more people with this message. Our valued drivers have a critical role of conveying people from one destination to the other.
“We trust that in donating these face masks to drivers, they will be important vehicles through whom the message of Covid -19 prevention is conveyed and driven home to as many Ghanaians as possible. We must all buckle down on enforcing preventive measures to completely eradicate the virus from our society,” he noted.
Receiving the branded face masks, Mr. Samuel Quartei Quartey, Welfare Vice Chairman of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Bus Terminal, expressed gratitude to Stratcomm Africa and its partners and admonished all drivers to enforce the strict wearing of face masks in their vehicles.
Dr. Gifty Quarshie-Ngissah of Midway Hospital, sensitised the gathering to COVID-19 prevention and safety protocols while the operations Manager of TroTro TV, Faustina Mensah also praised Stratcomm Africa and Christie Brown for the initiative.

ATU launches 5-year Strategic Plan

THE Accra Technical University (ATU) on Tuesday officially launched its Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 in Accra, aimed at driving innovation and strengthening institutional capacity across key operational areas.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Humphrey Awuletey Williams, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oswal Investments Limited, explained that the strategic plan seeks to respond to emerging challenges while positioning the institution as a forward-thinking leader in development.
He urged the university’s leadership to leverage their expertise to train students to be innovative and produce competitive products for both African and international markets.
According to him, employers increasingly demand competence-based human capital beyond academic certificates to drive development.
Mr Williams commended the Governing Council, Academic Board, Management, and other stakeholders for developing what he described as a ‘formative tool,’ and encouraged them to ensure its full implementation.
The Vice Chancellor of ATU, Mr Amevi Acapkvovi, emphasised that the strategic plan focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening stakeholder engagement.
“The strategic plan is not just a document, but a commitment to excellence, accountability and progress,” he said, adding that inclusivity is also central to the institution’s operations.
He outlined seven key focus areas of the plan: industry-based education; digital transformation and modernised infrastructure; quality assurance and institutional excellence; industry-driven research, innovation and entrepreneurship; staff development, motivation and welfare; strategic partnerships and increased visibility; and sustainable and green technologies.
Prof. Ernest Abotsi, stressed that the plan must not ‘gather dust’ but should be actively implemented to achieve success.
“Currently, ATU is adopting measures to assess the cost of running the institution, and this plan will serve as a guide to promote the university at every level,” he said.
Stakeholders present lauded the initiative, noting that its clear framework and measurable targets would help track progress and ensure transparency in the institution’s operations.
The university expressed confidence that, with support from partners and staff, the plan would significantly contribute to national development and set a benchmark for excellence in the sector.
The ceremony brought together stakeholders from government, traditional leadership, academia, industry, and civil society.

Gomoa Easter Carnival: Community empowerment through entertainment

GOMOA Central Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana was the place of attraction for this year’s Easter, as Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kwame Asare Obeng, affectionately called Aplus staged a four-day carnival.
The event started with a welcome bonfire night, where the people of Gomoa and some dignitaries proceeded through the principal streets of Gomoa Central on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
It continued on Friday with Highlife Night, which saw Kwabena, Bless, Dada Hafco, Kofi Nti, Ofori Amponsah, Samini and others rock patrons.
Saturday started with a walk from Obuasi through Afranse to Ekwamkrom, where a durbar of chiefs was held.
The night erupted with concert at Ekwamkrom headlined by Ghana’s Finest Sarkodie. Sarkodie indeed proved his mettle with back-to-back hit songs and engaging performance.
Patrons also enjoyed mind-blowing performances from Keche, Kuami Eugene, Tinny, Obaapa Christy, Sista Afia and many others.
On Sunday, which was the final day, witnessed packed performances from Patapaa, Kofi Kinaata, Jupitar, Kwaw Kese, Piesie Esther, and Amerado amongst others.
Patrons enjoyed exquisite catwalk on the runway as Smully Wear put together some local designers for a fashion show.
The likes of Aplus, MP for the area, Deputy GTA Boss Gilbert Aggrey (Abeiku Santana), New Media President Eugene Osafo Nkansah and Media Personality Kleff Maxwell Justice (KMJ) were all on the runway as models.
On each day, up and coming musicians had their time on the big stage to enthrall the audience.
Mr Kwame Asare Obeng in an interview with The Spectator expressed his appreciation to the traditional leaders of the area, the constituents, Corporate Ghana and all and sundry for their unflinching support.
He said the success of the maiden edition will lead to even a bigger one next year.
According to him, his constituents who own businesses like hotels, restaurants, other traders and drivers among others were able to cash out from the carnival, which was very satisfying to him.
“Empowering the community to make ends meet to cater for their families was important for me. I have engaged most of them, and they are happy with sales. This makes me very happy,” he said.
