British-Ghanaian female boxer Sedem Ama has been honoured as the Unrivalled Diasporan Rising Star at the resilient and epic Annual Ghana Sports Excellence Awards ceremony held on December 22, 2025, at the British Council, Accra, Ghana.

The British-Ghanaian recently won the WBA Africa Super Welterweight title after defeating Nigeria’s unbeaten Chiamaka at the Legacy Rise Global Showdown event at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Accra.

Sedem had been an undisputed amateur boxer, winning all her bouts in the British national championships, prior to turning professional boxer in 2023, and she is still a hard nut to crack.

She started off in swimming and taekwondo before becoming a boxer.

Currently, Sedem amazingly balances a full-time marketing business with a rigorous boxing timetable, advancing the skills of an undefeated champion inside the ring.

Sedem is a trailblazer of female strength, tenacity, power, and resilience; unwavering dedication to both her job and her craft; and perseverance.

A number of exceptional sports personalities, including Ghana’s Minister for Sports & Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, and Tennis Foundation Ghana’s Roger Crawford, were honoured as the Unrivalled Sports Administrator and Unrivalled Tennis Development Genius, respectively.

Others are Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Theophilus Sampah and British-Ghanaian Fastest Accountant Eugene Amo-Dadzie, who received awards as the Unrivalled Sports Journo and Unrivalled Diasporan Athlete, respectively.

Officials of the Ghana Athletics Association and Ghana Rugby Football Union received honours on behalf of their federations as Unrivalled Breakout Sporting Federation and Unrivalled Emerging Sporting Federation, in that order.

The Annual Ghana Sports Excellence Awards event is aimed at elevating unrivalled Ghanaian sports personalities (athletes, volunteers, and sports media, as well as sports administrators and other stakeholders) worldwide.

It is an important element of the event to unveil individuals and organisations that have historically been reluctant to showcase their achievements.

The winners are selected through an independent judging process under the direction of a chief reviewer.
