Former President Akufo-Addo hosts NPP presidential aspirants for unity breakfast

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has held a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to promote unity ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his private residence in Nima, Accra, brought together key figures of the party, including members of the NPP Council of Elders and the national leadership.
The gathering aimed to strengthen harmony within the party before the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, and to ensure the NPP remains united in its preparation for the 2028 general elections.
Former President Akufo-Addo expressed appreciation to the aspirants for taking time out of their campaign activities to meet with him.
He noted that their presence showed their shared commitment to the party’s collective success.
He described each aspirant as a valued member of the NPP, acknowledging their individual contributions to the party and the nation.
He urged them to conduct issue-based campaigns that focus on their visions for the future rather than personal attacks.
Akufo-Addo also stressed that his main priority is to see a united and credible NPP capable of winning the 2028 elections, encouraging all aspirants and their supporters to maintain respect and discipline throughout the process.
The aspirants Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong pledged to run clean and competitive campaigns. They also promised to support whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer to ensure unity after the primaries.
Also present at the meeting were Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders; Danquah Smith Buttey, Acting National Chairman; Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary; Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader; and Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, former Chief of Staff.
The former President thanked the participants for their cooperation and urged the party leadership to ensure a credible and transparent primary process that will preserve the unity of the NPP.

Diaspora Affairs Office cautions public against fake intermediaries in citizenship drive

The Diaspora Affairs Office under the Office of the President has issued new directives to guide all public engagements, particularly those related to the Diaspora Citizenship Drive and other related initiatives.
In a public notice signed by the Deputy Director, Nana Kyere Agyemang, the office cautioned that all inquiries regarding the citizenship drive must be made only through its official communication channels.
It emphasized that no third-party agents or intermediaries are recognized or authorized to act on behalf of the office.
The statement also advised the public to verify any correspondence that appears to come from the Diaspora Affairs Office before taking any action.
This, according to the office, is to safeguard the integrity of official communications and prevent the spread of misinformation.
The office further encouraged individuals to report any suspected fraudulent activity, misrepresentation, or unauthorized use of its name or credentials.
It reiterated its commitment to promoting lawful, transparent, and dignified processes for diaspora integration and return, in line with Ghana’s Diaspora Engagement Policy and the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to strengthen connections between Ghana and its global community.
The Diaspora Affairs Office expressed appreciation to the diaspora community and the general public for their cooperation in maintaining the credibility of its operations and the success of national inclusion efforts.

OSP conducts searches in ongoing MIIF gold trade investigation

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has conducted searches at the Trassaco residence of businessman Nana Yaw Duodu, popularly known as Dr. Sledge, and at the East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited.
The searches, carried out on Wednesday, formed part of ongoing investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade programme.
According to the OSP, the operation was carried out under warrants issued by the High Court in Accra.
Nana Yaw Duodu is being investigated over transactions under the MIIF gold trade initiative, which allegedly caused a loss of 94 million dollars to the State.
During the exercise, the OSP’s Asset Recovery and Management Team seized several items, including luxury vehicles, jewellery, weapons, and documents connected to landed properties.
The OSP said the investigation is ongoing and that further actions will be taken as required by law.
