Triangle Group, an international company operating in Ghana’s oil and gas sector, has donated GH¢50,000 to the Dzidula Pink Foundation to support breast cancer awareness, education and community outreach programmes.
The Regional Business Manager, Africa, of Triangle Group, Mr Fahd Fouad, said the donation formed part of the company’s commitment to contributing to the well-being of communities in Ghana beyond its business operations.
He said the company was concerned about people living with cancer without knowing their status, explaining that busy work schedules and family responsibilities often prevented people from making time for medical check-ups.
“Many people have cancer and they don’t know that they have cancer,” he said, stressing the importance of regular health checks and early detection.
Mr Fouad noted that some people, particularly those working hard to provide for their families, often prioritised food, school fees and other household needs over their own health.
He therefore urged people to make their health a priority, saying early detection could make treatment easier and improve the chances of recovery.
Mr Fouad said Triangle Group believed businesses had a responsibility to leave a positive impact on communities where they operated.
“This is not always about the business that you are doing in the country. It is also about what positive footprint you can leave in the country,” he said.
He said the company was prepared to support the Foundation beyond the financial contribution by participating in its community education programmes.
Mr Fouad expressed particular interest in joining the Foundation’s outreach activities in markets and other communities to learn how health advocates engaged people on sensitive health issues.
He said the company was ready to provide more than financial assistance, including mentorship and participation in awareness programmes.
He said fighting cancer required collective responsibility from individuals, families, workplaces, religious groups and society.
He urged people to support cancer patients with encouragement, guidance and financial assistance where possible.
The Founder of the Dzidula Pink Foundation, Fafa Gozo, expressed appreciation to Triangle Group, describing the donation as an investment in life and a source of hope for people affected by cancer.
She said the Foundation regularly visited markets, health facilities, schools, churches and Muslim groups to educate the public about cancer and encourage early detection.
Ms Gozo noted that many cancer patients faced financial, psychological and emotional difficulties, which could affect their ability to continue treatment.
She said the partnership had come at an important time as the Foundation prepared to extend its outreach activities to more communities.
Ms Gozo disclosed that the Foundation would undertake programmes in the Volta Region, including visits to four schools to educate students about cancer and the importance of early detection.
She said the Foundation would also engage churches and Muslim groups as part of the outreach.
Ms Gozo said she hoped the partnership would develop into a long-term collaboration that would have a greater impact on communities.
For her, the partnership represented more than a donation, saying “it is not just about investing in business; it is about investing in life,” and expressed hope that the collaboration would bring renewed hope to people affected by cancer.

MTN Ghana climaxes 30th anniversary with CEO Invitational golf

About 120 golfers from clubs across Ghana participated in an 18-hole competition, dubbed ‘MTN 30th Anniversary CEO Invitational Golf Tournament’ held at the Achimota Golf Club on Saturday.
At the end of the hectic day, Frederick Semenu Duvor won the Men’s Group A event with 39 points, while Julienne Afi claimed the Ladies’ Group A title with the same score.
Yaw Mireku Jnr. won the Men’s Group B with an impressive 45 points, while Kous Louanges Mang took the Ladies’ Group B title with 38 points.
Kofi Mangesi won Men’s Group C with 40 points while Elorm R. Akuash Bonney claimed the Ladies’ version with 42 points.
In the Seniors Division, Jan Vogel emerged winner of the men’s category with 39 gross, while Helen Appah topped the ladies’ category with 44 gross.
Addressing participants, the company’s Board Chairman, Mr Ishmael Yamson, urged the company to approach its next phase with the same resilience, discipline and determination that have defined its success over the past three decades.
He drew a striking parallel between the game of golf and MTN Ghana’s three-decade journey, describing both as long games in which success depends less on one spectacular moment than on consistency, patience, judgment and the ability to recover from setbacks.
He said, golf had taught him a lesson that extended far beyond the fairways, thus, a round cannot be won on the first hole.

In golfing terms, he said, MTN Ghana had encountered its share of regulatory bunkers, competitive hazards and unexpected storms that had forced the company to pause, reassess and change its approach.
But those challenges, he suggested, were part of the journey rather than reasons to abandon it.
