Stephen Appiah, Betway bring game closer with Sunyani Customer Experience Centre

Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, joined leading global sports betting brand Betway, to open its new customer experience centre located in Sunyani on Friday.

The move formed part of the company’s broader strategy to make its services more accessible to customers and strengthen its presence in Ghana with Stephen Appiah as its Brand Ambassador.

According to Betway, the new Sunyani Customer Experience Centre is more than just a service point. It is also represents a fun and exciting place for sports betting and gaming fans.

It allows visitors to watch live sports on big screens, enjoy special casino nights, take part in gaming sessions and access exclusive offers available only in the branch.

The centre also helps new players get started with guided support and personalized betting advice, making it a lively hub for sports and gaming enthusiasts.

Speaking at the opening event, Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah II, Country Manager (Operations) at Betway, highlighted the strategic significance of the new centre in the company’s expansion plan.

He said “the launch of our Sunyani branch underscores our commitment to ensuring that our customers have convenient access to our services and stay up to date with the latest in sports betting and casino gaming. This is a crucial step in strengthening our presence in the Bono Region while creating a welcoming and engaging space for our players.”

Brand Ambassador also expressed his excitement about the opening of the new branch, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to both its customers and the local community.

Korle Bu Dental Dep’t Gets New Digital X-Ray Machine

The Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, has commissioned newly installed digital X-ray machines at the Radiology Department to further enhance diagnostic services and improve patient care.

At the brief ceremony, Dr. Adam underscored the significance of the new machines in meeting the growing demand for advanced diagnostic services. He described the commissioning as a major milestone in the hospital’s modernisation agenda, aimed at boosting efficiency in patient management.

Dr. Matthew Boamah, Head of the Dental Unit, and Dr. Hafisatu Gbadamosi, Head of the Radiology Department, expressed their appreciation to hospital management and partners, Rontgen Imaging, for making the project possible. They assured that the machines will be utilised to their fullest potential for the benefit of patients.

The new equipment will significantly improve the quality and speed of imaging, especially for dental and maxillofacial cases, while minimising patient exposure to radiation. In addition, it will support teaching, research, and specialised care, further strengthening Korle Bu’s position as a leading referral centre in Ghana and the sub-region.

This commissioning forms part of the hospital’s broader commitment to upgrading its infrastructure and delivering world-class healthcare to its patients and clients.

Korle Bu Staff to enjoy Free Healthcare from September

From September 1, 2025, staff of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital will no longer be required to pay for healthcare services and subsequently apply for refunds.

They will, instead, be able to access care directly by presenting their staff ID cards.

The Chief Executive of the Hospital, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, announced this during the Hospital’s 2025 Midyear Performance Review held on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Dr. Adam described the initiative as a major step towards enhancing staff welfare while also strengthening the hospital’s internal systems.

He further emphasised the importance of departments conducting daily and frequent revenue reconciliations to ensure transparency, efficiency, and prudent financial management.

According to him, revenue must be generated collectively and utilised collectively in order to sustain hospital operations and enhance staff welfare.

Commending staff for their dedication over the past months, the Chief Executive noted that the performance review was not only a time to reflect on achievements but also an opportunity to set priorities for the future.

He also outlined ongoing efforts to improve operations across the hospital, including renovation works, the introduction of systems to track procurement and resource utilisation, and additional training programmes to prepare staff for roles created through attrition.

Planned developments include the introduction of a biometric attendance system, the construction of a new Endoscopy Unit, and the upgrade of the hospital’s MRI machine.

The review session featured presentations from various directorates of the hospital, including Nursing and Midwifery, Pharmacy, Medical Directorate, Administration, General Services, Human Resources, and Finance.

Each directorate highlighted its achievements, challenges, priorities, and next steps for the remainder of the year.
