Consume Made-in-Ghana chocolates- Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie

She noted that the programme had helped to reshape the celebration of Valentine’s Day in Ghana by leveraging chocolate as a symbol of love, providing a longer period of engagement, and increased awareness.

Mrs Houadjeto said as local consumption of Ghanaian chocolate was being promoted, it would enhance domestic tourism, social cohesion and create jobs for the youth.

She stated that “cocoa is a stress reliever, helps to reduce blood pressure, improves the blood flow to the brain and boosts brain function, acts as a stimulant, and a natural aphrodisiac.”

She called on stakeholders in the entire value chain to continue to promote the consumption of chocolate and cocoa-based products, adding: “It must be continually nurtured and promoted to attract both national and international attention and participation.”

Vice President wishes BECE candidates success, urges integrity

The Vice President of Ghana, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has extended her best wishes to students writing the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination this week.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, on behalf of the government, she expressed confidence that candidates will perform well after years of preparation, discipline and hard work.

She encouraged them to approach the examination with confidence, honesty and determination.

She commended the Ghana Education Service, teachers, parents and other stakeholders for their role in preparing the students.

The Vice President further called on supervisors, invigilators and school authorities to uphold high standards of fairness and transparency to ensure a credible examination process.

Parliament to resume sitting on May 21

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will begin on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a notice issued on May 4, 2026, he stated that the House will reconvene at 10:00 a.m. at Parliament House in Accra.

The notice was issued in line with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana, which governs the commencement of sittings.

He explained that the meeting will mark the continuation of parliamentary business for the session.

The notice, signed at the Office of the Speaker in Accra, formally informs Members of Parliament and the public about the resumption date.
