Ghana exhibited as preferred MICE destination at Meetings Africa in South Africa

The Ghana Tourism Authority has exhibited Ghana as a preferred MICE destination at this year’s 16th edition of Meeting Africa event held in South Africa.

MICE in tourism is an acronym which stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions and Events.

‘Meetings Africa’ held from February 28 to March 2, is aimed at showcasing Africa as a premier business events destination that cares about its people and the natural environment.

South Africa’s Minister of Tourism, Ms. Lindiwe Nonceba Sisulu, paid a surprise visit to the Ghana stand  and expressed her delight seeing Ghana at the Conference and Exhibition for the first time.

She was full of praise for the Ghanaian delegation and commended the stand  the display of the country’s beautiful Kente and Chocolate as well as showcase of Ghana as a preferred MICE destination in the West Africa.

It would be recalled that the Ghana Tourism Authority, under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Akwasi Agyeman resolved to put Ghana on the international stage through the Authority’s MICE  Division in order to push more conferences, events, meetings, etc to the West African nation

The Ghana delegation was led by Ms. Betty Kobi, Director of MICE and accompanied by Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs as well as Ms. Rhodaline Boakye, an Officer at the MICE Secretariat of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Ms. Betty Kobi indicated to Ms.Nonceba the need for the African continent to bounce back in terms of MICE in order to create a conducive environment for recovery through concerted and coordinated efforts.

She stated that business tourism was critical tool for economic growth in Africa and that with continuing infrastructure upgrades, improved air connectivity, improved visa facilitation and unique cultural tourism assets, one could strongly argue that Africa was ready for business/MICE tourism growth.

The Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, also indicated that most African countries were committed to pragmatic approaches in developing their MICE tourism industry to diversify their tourism economies through public-private partnerships.

He noted that the MICE masterclass held at Meetings Africa 2022, offered capacity building and coaching programmes in business tourism and MICE product development to participants on the theme, “Forging the Power of a Common Purpose through Inspirational Solutions.”

Participating countries were full of commitment and resolved nations to revive the Tourism, Hospitality and MICE of their various economies through effective innovation, collaboration and networkingin their respective nations.

RNAQ pledges GHC100,000 to support Okyeame Kwame’s “Clap” song Promotion

Kwame Nsiah Apau, widely known as Okyeame Kwame, and the Rap Dacta, celebrated his 50th birthday with the release of a rhythmic reggae tune titled “Clap.”

The song shines a spotlight on applauding those making remarkable contributions to society and encourages people to celebrate the successes of their friends and family.

Just a week after its release, “Clap” has garnered widespread positive reactions from influencers across Ghana, Jamaica, America, South Africa, and other parts of the world.

In one of the reaction videos shared by Okyeame Kwame, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Richard Nii Armah Quaye, aka RNAQ, expressed his admiration, saying, “Love this song and the lyrics. I want to support its promotion with GHC 100,000. Well done.”

Okyeame Kwame, who had previously promised to build a Paediatric Emergency Ward at Manhyia Hospital in Kumasi before his birthday, would certainly benefit from this generous support for such a meaningful project.

His 50th birthday celebration was a successful all-white event held at +233 Pub and Grill, featuring amazing performances that added to the memorable occasion.

TGMA 27 unveils red carpet theme ‘A Touch of Glitter’

Organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 27 have announced “A Touch of Glitter as the official red carpet theme for this year’s ceremony.’’

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 16, Charterhouse indicated that the theme is designed to promote elegance and creativity while maintaining a refined fashion standard.

According to the organisers, the red carpet remains one of the most anticipated moments of the awards, offering artistes, celebrities, and guests the opportunity to express themselves through fashion while celebrating Ghanaian identity.

They explained that for this year’s edition, attendees are encouraged to include subtle elements of shimmer in their outfits.

This, they noted, can be done through fabric choices, embellishments, or accessories, with the focus on elegance rather than excess.

The statement added that the red carpet event will take place on May 9, 2026, at 7:06 pm, ahead of the main awards ceremony.

Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, noted that the theme invites guests to explore creativity with sophistication while maintaining a polished appearance.

The organisers further assured that the event will continue to deliver a blend of music, fashion, and culture, making it a key highlight on Ghana’s entertainment calendar.
