Why is filling O2 and winning Grammy the standard?… Wendy Shay queries

Ghanaian songstress, Wendy Asiamah Addo, known in Showbiz as Wendy Shay has waded into the O2 Arena brouhaha.
Some Ghanaian music lovers turned the heat on musicians in the country after Nigeria’s rising star, Asake filled the O2 Arena in UK to the rafters for his concert.
Most of these music lovers labelled the Ghanaian artiste as not working hard and compared successes they have chalked to their Nigerian counterparts.
After days of conversations on various platforms by some industry players, Wendy Shay has broken her silence on the matter with a tweet.
” Why is filling 02 and winning Grammy become the standard to measure the success of an Artist?,” She queried in a tweet on Monday, August 28.
According to her, Bob Marley and Tupac were successful, yet, they didn’t win a Grammy.
“Bob Marley and 2Pac are successful musicians but never won a Grammy.
Let Ghanaian musicians breathe !
Ghana wake up!,” Wendy Shay added.
Many industry stakeholders have called for the need to put in place the right mechanisms for Ghanaian musicians to thrive internationally.

According to sources, he was said to have died in the early hours on Monday, September 1, 2025 after a long battle with blood cancer (Leukemia)
His death has been a shock in the Ghanaian community especially coming shortly after his last post.
His demise comes five months after he had laid his mother, Amounu, also a tiktoker, to rest, having lost her in January.
Hours before his passing, he had posted a video on Sunday with friends watching the Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano match, prompting many fans to initially dismiss the reports as a hoax.
