Madam Ajara Seidu installed as Development Queen mother of Narhman

The Chief and people of Narhman in the Ga East Municipality have officially installed the Chief Executive Officer of Hajia Local Foods, Madam Ajara Seidu, as the Development Queen mother of the area.

The newly installed development queenmother with the stool name Naa Owaama is expected to help the other traditional leaders to foster the development of the area.

The outdooring ceremony was attended by hundreds of people, including traditional leaders from other communities across the municipality and the region.

Speaking with journalists after the colourful ceremony, the newly outdoored queen mother declared her readiness to join hands with the other traditional authorities to ensure total development of the area.

“I’m very happy to be honoured with this position, and I promised to avail myself anytime when it comes to the discussion of issues regarding the growth of Narhman,” she stated.

She advised the teeming youth of the town not to be involved in election violence.

“As a development queen mother, I cannot achieve my developmental agenda alone but rather need support from members within the community,” she added.

On his part, the Osiahene of the Osu Traditional Area, Nii Dowuona, charged the newly installed Development queen mother to always make herself available for the discussion of issues regarding the total growth of Narhman.

He noted that traditional leaders were not installed to illegally sell lands belonging to the entire members of a family but rather to protect properties meant for future generations.

The Osiahene of the Osu Traditional Council charged the development queen mother to initiate a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy children within the community to help promote quality education in the town.

Interior Minister accepts Minority Leader’s apology over recruitment corruption claims

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has accepted an apology from the Minority leader in Parliament following allegations of corruption in the recruitment process of the security services.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, he indicated that the accusations were painful because they portrayed his actions in a way that suggested criminal wrongdoing.

“It is painful to be wrongly accused or for your actions to be misconstrued and labelled differently from your intention, especially when it is linked with criminality and serious wrongdoing,” he stated.

Mr Mubarak noted that although he was deeply hurt and worried by the allegations, he had decided to accept the apology wholeheartedly.

According to him, the issue should guide members of the House and public officials to focus on ensuring that the right things are done without attempting to destroy one another.

He assured the Minority that the Interior Ministry and the various security service commanders remain committed to transparency and accountability in their work.

The Minister added that the ministry would be ready to address any concerns raised by the Minority or other members of Parliament regarding recruitment into the security services.

He further appealed to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to consider expunging from the parliamentary records the false comments.

Mr Mubarak expressed appreciation to the Speaker for handling the matter and emphasised the need for cooperation among members of Parliament to ensure fairness and proper oversight.

The battle for supremacy in the Ghana Premier League will continue this weekend with both Medeama SC and Bibiani Gold Stars continuing their close battle for the title.

Defending champions, Bibiani Gold Stars, are breathing down heavily on the neck of the leaders Medeama SC as they aim to hunt down the Premier League leaders from the top.

Fresh from their 2-1 home victory over in-form Hearts of Oak, which saw them cut the lead at the top to just one, Gold Stars will travel to the Bono Region, precisely the Wenchi Sports Complex, to test their mettle against relegation candidate, Young Apostles.

Gold Stars are on a four-game winning streak, having blown apart Swedru All Blacks, Basake Holy Stars, Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak, and are gunning to add Apostles to their list of casualties tomorrow.

Apostles, the last but one team on the log, have vowed to escape the drop, indicating their resolve to wrest a point or more in the game.

Medeama SC returns to their fortress, the TnA Stadium, to host Hohoe United in a tricky tie.

Head coach of Medeama SC, Tanko Ibrahim, believes they are still on course to win the title despite the threat from Gold Stars.

Vision FC will look to continue their strong home form when they welcome relegation-threatened Berekum Chelsea to the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex in Tema New Town today with the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi, also hosting the Samartex FC versus Dreams FC clash today.

In other games, the University of Ghana Stadium will play host to the Hearts of Oak versus Basake Holy Stars game; Asante Kotoko will trek to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale to face Karela United FC; Aduana FC will seek to add to the woes of bottom club, Eleven Wonders, at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park with Heart of Lions seeking a return to winning ways when they host Swedru All Blacks at the Kpando Stadium.
