I’ll comprehensively audit Keta Port project – Mahama

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has revealed that his next administration will undertake a comprehensive audit of the Keta Port to assess the progress made under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and determine the way forward.
Speaking during a media engagement in Ho as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region, the NDC flagbearer emphasised the importance of conducting a thorough needs assessment before establishing a new port between Tema Harbour and the Port of Lomé which are both major ports.
Mahama highlighted the need to avoid the mistakes made with the Boankra inland port to ensure that the project does not become a “white elephant.”
“We will prioritise it and once I become president, one of the first things I will ask for is the feasibility study of the Keta Port and once we have seen it, we will let the public see it and based on that, we can take it from there,” he said.
“If there must be a port there, there must be a specialised port for something because we have Tema and we have Lomé because if we are having an intermediate port, is it going to handle the same cargo that Tema and Lomé are handling?,” he queried.
He concluded that “Those are all things that we have to look at and determine how to move forward and so they should stop playing politics with it and let us see the feasibility study, the design of the port and move forward.”

TBCCC Women’s Ministry marks first anniversary

The Battle Cry Community Church (TBCCC) Women’s Ministry has commemorated its first anniversary at Adenta in Accra.
The five-day event which was held from Wednesday, August 27 to Sunday, August 31 was under the theme “A new chapter of beauty”.
Activities held included worship and prayer nights, and sessions of exhortations.
An Associate Pastor of Harvest Chapel International, Lady Pastor Hagar Hasford, in a sermon likened the journey of women to exchanging ‘ashes for beauty’ and urged them to lay down their burdens in prayer for total honour and restoration.
With biblical insights from Esther 2:12, she reminded women that obedience and covenant loyalty were keys to divine preparation.
She said true beauty is when one comes into God’s purpose with divine alignment.
Mrs Anna Owusu, a proprietress and leader of the TBCCC Choir, encouraged women to live with determination, maintain a growth mindset, and remain true to their God-given identity.
She said, stepping into a new chapter requires both spiritual and personal commitment.
A retired pastor, Rev. Mrs. Florence Baidoo, said beauty should be both inward and outward, reflecting Christ in a way that draws others to Him.

New Times Corporation MD bids farewell, hands over to IMC

The Managing Director of the New Times Corporation (NTC), Mr Martin Adu Owusu, has officially proceeded on leave prior to early retirement.
Having served the Corporation for 29 years, Mr Owusu’s decision was precipitated on health grounds.
The Board Chairman of the NTC, Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, made the announcement on Monday during a staff durbar.
In his absence, an Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been set up to be chaired by a board member, Mr Kwesi Adjei Kersi, and supported by Dr Charity Binka, also a board member.
Representing management on the committee are the editors of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator newspapers, Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman, and Mrs Georgina Naa-Maku Quaittoo.

They are joined by the Human Resource and Administrative Manager, Mrs Agnes Nketia.
Their mandate is to oversee the day-to-day running of the Corporation until the NMC appoints a substantive Managing Director.
Professor Kwansah-Aidoo commended Mr Owusu for his 29 years of service, describing his contribution as invaluable to the growth of the Corporation.
Mr Adu Owusu, in an emotional farewell, thanked the staff for the support he has enjoyed and asked them to work hard to improve the fortunes of the corporation.
Following the announcement, Mr Adu Owusu officially handed over the administration and operation of the NTC to the IMC at a brief ceremony on Wednesday.
The Chairman of the IMC, Mr Kwesi Adjei Kersi, called for unity and cooperation among the staff and members of the committee, insisting that “unity and cooperation are crucial ingredients needed for the survival and progress of the Corporation.”
Mr Kersi urged staff to work in close cooperation with the committee to overcome the challenges facing the NTC.
He stressed that without unity and teamwork, the organisation would falter.
Mr Kersi noted that the committee’s immediate focus would be to stabilise the company, strengthen accountability, and chart a path toward growth.
Present at the ceremony were the Board Chairman, Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, the outgoing Managing Director, Mr Martin Adu-Owusu, the Editors of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator Alhaji Salifu Abdul-Rahman and Mrs Georgina Naa-Maku Quaittoo respectively, and the Human Resource and Administrative Manager, Mrs Agnes Nketia.
