The Proprietress of Hilltop School at Daban, Mrs Cecilia Agyei Amoako, has urged government to ensure equal Senior High School (SHS) admission quotas for both private and public basic schools.
According to her, private institutions produce a lot of top-tier scholars who contribute significantly to national development, and therefore, deserve a level playing field in post-basic education placement.
She said this when she spoke at the school’s 21st Graduation and Speech Day last Saturday.
Eighty-eight students from the 2025–26 academic year officially graduated under the theme: ‘Rising Beyond Limits: Celebrating Resilience, Excellence, and the Next Step Forward.’
Beyond her appeal to policymakers, Mrs Amoako urged parents to partner actively with the school’s management to maintain the high standards.
She appealed to parents to give school authorities a free hand to train and discipline their wards effectively.
Dr Akua Amoako, a medical doctor and a former School Prefect, praised the school authorities for bringing out the best in its learners, noting that Hilltop prepared her for life through a combination of academic rigours and extracurricular involvement in debates, quizzes, talent shows, cadet band, and cultural activities.
She urged the graduating class not to fear starting over or stepping into the unknown, reminding them that every new beginning was another opportunity to learn and grow.
She encouraged the graduates to cherish and nurture the friendships formed at Hilltop, as their classmates will serve as a crucial support system throughout life.
The event ended with award presentations and vibrant cultural displays.
