The Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has presented Ghana’s official charity auction gift to Miss Ghana 2026, Rumzia Sule, as she prepares to represent the nation at the 75th Miss World Festival in Vietnam later this month.
The presentation took place during a brief ceremony at the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President and formed part of Ghana’s official send-off for the reigning queen ahead of her departure.
The symbolic gift, inspired by Ghana’s iconic Independence Arch, has been designated for the Miss World Charity Auction; one of the festival’s longest-standing traditions.
During the event, each participating country presents a distinctive item representing its culture, heritage and national identity, with all proceeds supporting the global charitable initiatives of the Miss World Organisation.
Presenting the gift, the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), congratulated Rumzia Sule and the Miss Ghana runners-up on their achievements and encouraged the reigning queen to proudly represent Ghana on the international stage.
“You are carrying the hopes and pride of an entire nation. Just as our national teams have represented Ghana on the world stage, go out there with confidence and let the world experience the very best of Ghana. Make us proud.”
He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Diaspora Affairs Office to partnering with the Miss Ghana brand in strengthening engagement with Ghanaians living abroad and promoting Ghana’s positive image globally.
Also addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gilbert Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, described the gift as a powerful symbol of Ghana’s history and identity.
He explained that the Independence Arch represents Ghana’s historic position as the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to attain independence and serves as an enduring symbol of freedom, resilience and African leadership.
“Ghana is the Gateway to Africa. We are presenting a symbolic heritage gift that tells our story to the world. Go and shine with the pride of Africa, the Black Star of the world, and let everyone know where you come from.”
He assured the delegation of the Ghana Tourism Authority’s continued support in promoting Ghana through the Miss World platform.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority, James Gardiner, also encouraged the queen to remain confident throughout the competition.
“Believe in what you carry. You represent not only Ghana but the pride of Africa. Never allow yourself to be intimidated; your authenticity, confidence and purpose are your greatest strengths.”
Receiving the gift on behalf of Ghana, Miss Ghana 2026, Rumzia Sule, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Ghana and its partners for the honour and support.
“I am deeply humbled by this gesture and grateful for the confidence that has been placed in me. I will carry Ghana with pride, honour our culture and traditions, and do my utmost to make every Ghanaian proud on the Miss World stage.”
The Managing Director Exclusive Events Ghana and the Chair of the Miss Ghana Foundation, Inna Patty, Esq., expressed profound appreciation to the Office of the President, the Ghana Tourism Authority and all partners for their unwavering support.
She noted that Ghana’s participation at the 75th Miss World Festival extends beyond beauty, serving as a platform to showcase the country’s culture, tourism, creativity and national heritage while advancing charitable causes around the world.
“We are sincerely grateful to the Diaspora Affairs Office and the Ghana Tourism Authority for this meaningful gesture and for presenting Ghana’s official gift for the Miss World Charity Auction.” she said.
According to her, ” This gift will not only showcase the richness of our cultural heritage before a global audience, but will also contribute to raising funds for the Miss World Organisation’s humanitarian projects across the world. It beautifully reflects Ghana’s generosity, compassion and commitment to using culture as a force for global good.”
“We deeply appreciate the Government of Ghana and all our partners for believing in the Miss Ghana vision. Every investment in our queens is an investment in youth empowerment, tourism promotion, cultural diplomacy and national development. Together, we are telling Ghana’s story on one of the world’s biggest stages while empowering young women to become ambassadors for positive change,” she concluded.
Rumzia Sule will depart for Vietnam in the coming days to join contestants from more than 100 countries and territories at the historic 75th Miss World Festival, where she will represent Ghana in one of the world’s most prestigious international beauty and humanitarian events.

The 29th Annual Dagaaba-Frafra Friendly Games have once again demonstrated that sports can be a powerful vehicle for cultural preservation, business networking, friendship and peaceful coexistence.
Held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra last Saturday, the games brought together members of the two ethnic groups from across Ghana and abroad for a colourful celebration under the theme, “Unity in Diversity: The Dagaaba-Frafra Model for Peaceful Co-existence.”
The event, which has evolved from a friendly football match into a major annual gathering, featured football, volleyball, sack races, lime and spoon, tug-of-peace and a penalty shootout for senior citizens.
At the end of the competitions, the Frafra won four events, while the Dagaaba secured victories in five, with the men’s soccer match ending in a draw.
The Frafra triumphed in the men’s lime and spoon, men’s sack race, women’s sack race and women’s soccer, while the Dagaaba won the women’s lime and spoon, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, women’s tug-of-peace and the senior citizens’ penalty shootout.
However, the games extended far beyond the sporting arena. The stadium grounds and surrounding spaces became a vibrant marketplace, with patrons enjoying and purchasing a variety of traditional foods, drinks and cultural products.
Local delicacies, including TZ, tubaani, bambara beans, pork, guinea fowl, local fowls, dog meat and kosie, were sold alongside traditional alcoholic beverages. Traditional dresses and other culturally inspired items also attracted buyers, turning the gathering into an important platform for small businesses and vendors to make sales while promoting northern Ghanaian culture.
The cultural exchange continued long after the final sporting contests, as patrons remained at the venue to eat, drink, socialise, dance and party well into the night.
In her remarks, the Guest of Honour, Dr Matilda Aberese-Ako, said the gathering represented much more than competition, describing the Dagaaba-Frafra relationship as a historic bond that had evolved into a modern sporting tradition and an instrument for peace.
MTN Ghana has been the headline sponsor for the games for the past 10 years.

MTN Ghana has undertaken a tree-planting exercise at the Chipa Forest Reserve as part of its commitment to protecting the planet and support the restoration of degraded sections of the forest.
The activity forms part of the company’s 2026 Sustainability Month celebration held under the theme “Small Actions: Big Impact,” and its 30th anniversary celebration.
It was held in partnership with the Forestry Commission (FC) and the Rainforest Alliance with MTN Ghana supporting the restoration of approximately two hectares of degraded forest through the planting of 1,666 trees.
Due to the current dry weather conditions, 833 trees were planted during the exercise, with the remaining 833 to be planted when the rain commences.
The exercise brought together MTN employee volunteers, officials from the Forestry Commission and representatives of the Rainforest Alliance, demonstrating the importance of collaboration in driving environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the event, the Acting General Manager for Sustainability and Shared Value at MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, emphasized the critical role trees play in sustaining life and protecting the environment.
“Trees are essential to human survival and healthy ecosystems. They absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, regulate temperatures, protect soil, support biodiversity and provide habitats for many species. They also conserve water, reduce erosion and help communities adapt to the effects of climate change,” she said.
The District Manager of the Tema-Ada Forest Services Division of the Forestry Commission, Linda Ansah, welcomed MTN Ghana’s support, describing it as a valuable contribution to efforts aimed at restoring degraded sections of the reserve.
The Country Director of the Rainforest Alliance, Nicholas Jengri, also welcomed the partnership and emphasised the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
