It was an electrifying atmosphere at this year’s Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam as two Ghanaian greats mesmerised the gathering.
Grachtenfestival is a 10-day classical music festival on Amsterdam’s canals. It includes more than 150 musical performances from barges, architectural tours, and performances from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
The event held on August 25 saw a highlife collaboration between Ghanaian icons Pat Thomas and Berima Amo.
This forms part of an exchange programme earlier this year at the International Amofest in Accra.
They gave Amsterdammers a taste of Amofest at the Grachtenfestival, as the two titans proved why they are revered as leading voices in the evolution of highlife music.
Berima Amo, a prominent figure in the new ‘neo-highlife’ movement, joined forces with the Golden voice Pat Thomas for an unforgettable performance that had the crowd dancing all night long.
The energetic All Stars AfroBand also delivered a captivating performance that celebrated Ghana’s rich musical heritage. Special guests including Bnnyhunna, Tallulah Rose, Peter Somuah, Kweku Mensah, and MC David Grutter.
Berima Amo said the Grachtenfestival performance with Pat Thomas offered a glimpse into highlife’s inspiring future for new generations of musicians and fans.
Berima Amo and his All Stars AfroBand are reportedly recording a new album at Studio 150 in Amsterdam, with plans to release it on November 23 at Cinetol in Amsterdam.

Jesse Delali unveils ‘Hallelujah’

Ghanaian gospel artiste, Jesse Delali, has released his latest single, ‘Hallelujah’, a powerful praise anthem that urges believers to lift the banner of worship and give glory to the King of kings.
Rooted in gratitude, surrender, and heartfelt adoration, ‘Hallelujah’ is more than a song; it is a declaration of God’s greatness and a reminder that He deserves the highest praise not only because of His mighty works, but simply because of who He is.
The upbeat tempo contemporary church praise jam blends energetic rhythms with a worshipful message, making it a perfect sound for Sunday services, personal devotion, and moments of collective celebration in the presence of God.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Jesse Delali describes ‘Hallelujah’ as a call for every believer to exalt God regardless of circumstances.
“God deserves our praise at all times. ‘Hallelujah’ is a declaration of gratitude and surrender-a reminder that our worship is not only tied to what God does for us, but who He is,” he explains.
The production of ‘Hallelujah’ was handled by renowned music producer Junior Boateng of Newgenn Studios, who crafted a rich and energetic soundscape that complements the song’s celebratory message.
The official music video, shot and edited by Kwame Aboagye of Envision Media, brings the song’s message to life through captivating visuals recorded live in Ottawa, Canada that reflect the joy, passion, and spiritual atmosphere behind the praise anthem.
