Veep hosts delegation from Shenzhen Energy Group

The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, yesterday
hosted a delegation from the Shenzhen Energy Group on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
Currently, President John Dramani is out of the country on official assignment.
The group was led by Mr. Ouyang Huiyu, the Executive President, and the management team of the Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited.
They discussed ways of expanding the reach of Sunon Asogli in the energy sector of the country.
The Vice President expressed her gratitude for their unwavering support to Ghana’s needs, especially given the challenges linked to the supply of energy.
They also highlighted the importance of the longstanding bilateral relations between Ghana and China, emphasizing how these partnerships continue to benefit both nations.
Additionally, they discussed the critical need for training and, where necessary, retraining local staff to enhance capacity and efficiency at facilities such as the Energy Groups in our country.
“I placed emphasis on supporting women engineers in the energy sector. By the end of the meeting, the delegation from China had agreed with my suggestion to select some women engineers for training in their facilities in China,” she revealed.
“I assured them of the government’s commitment to supporting future project expansions to meet Ghana’s growing energy demands,” she concluded.

Two arrested over robbery attack on Berekum Chelsea team

The Police have arrested two suspects, including the alleged gang leader, in connection with the robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea football team that resulted in the death of one of the players.
According to a Police update, the arrests were made after intelligence-led operations by security personnel.
One of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with the police.
He has since been taken to a hospital where he is receiving medical treatment, while the other suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
The Police indicated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang linked to the attack.
They assured the public that more details will be provided as investigations progress.

Mahama arrives in Brazzaville for Congo president’s investiture

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Brazzaville to attend the investiture ceremony of Denis Sassou N’Guesso.
The ceremony follows the re-election of President Sassou N’Guesso for another five year term as leader of the Republic of the Congo.
President Mahama travelled to Brazzaville shortly after launching his Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa.
He is expected to return to Accra after the ceremony scheduled for Thursday morning.
