President Mahama Declares, Friday, July 4 Public Holiday
President John Dramani Mahama has declared Friday, July 4, a public holiday.
Although Tuesday, July 1, 2025 is Republic Day, the President has declared Friday, July 4, 2025 a public holiday under Executive Instrument.
This move is in line with the amended Public Holidays Act to allow midweek holidays to be observed on a Friday to further boost tourism and hospitality industries.
“The general public is hereby informed that Tuesday, 1st July 2025, is Republic Day,” a statement by the Ministry of Interior noted.

Ghana condemns Israeli attack on Qatar
The Government of Ghana has condemned an Israeli attack on the State of Qatar, describing it as unprovoked and a violation of international law.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the airstrikes led to deaths, injuries, and the destruction of property.
It added that the attack was an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to efforts at achieving peace between Israel and Palestine.
The ministry noted President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana stood in solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar.
It further commended Qatar for its commitment to promoting peace in the Middle East and urged that the incident should not derail ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

Akropong Fire Station rescues driver in Mamfe-Amamprobi accidents
A rescue team from the Akropong Fire Station swiftly responded to a road traffic accident at Mamfe-Amamprobi on Monday, 8th September 2025.
A DAF cargo truck with registration number GR 3583-15 loaded with over 1,000 cartons of bottled water had veered off the road, trapping the driver inside due to severe damage to the head compartment.
The rescue team successfully extricated the driver and transported him to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by brake failure while the truck was en route to Kumasi.
The incident resulted in injury of one person, the driver, with no fatalities reported.
The vehicle sustained partial damage to the head compartment, four rims damaged, and two tyres completely destroyed.
