President Kurt E.S Okraku visits family of late Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, mourns with widow
The President of the Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, paid a visit to the wife and family of late Asante Kotoko fan, Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as ‘Nana Pooley’ at his residence in Kumasi on Thursday February 20, 2025.
In a touching gesture, President Okraku visited the family to share in their grief and express the collective sympathy of the football community.
He extended his heartfelt condolences and offered words of comfort and encouragement to the grieving family over the untimely demise of the passionate fan.
The visit to the wife and family follows an earlier trip to Asante Kotoko Headquarters in Kumasi, where he held closed-door meeting with the Interim Management Committee and the leadership of the club’s supporters.
The President’s gesture of support during this difficult time reflects the solidarity and compassion shared by the entire football fraternity.
His visit brought some comfort to the family as they mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and passionate supporter.
The President was joined and supported by Ashanti Regional Football Association Executives led by Chairman Osei Tutu Agyemang, GFA Executive Council member, Frederick Acheampong, Kotoko IMC top official who also doubles as GFA Executive Council member, James Kwasi Appiah and the supporters’ leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and all the clubs participating in this weekend’s competitions will pay special tribute in honour of the memory of the late Dominic Frimpong of Berekum Chelsea FC (on loan from Aduana FC).
The GFA has in a statement announced that all the players and team officials of the 6 clubs playing this weekend competitions will wear black armbands on their jerseys as a mark of respect during their respective matches.
In addition, a minute of silence will be observed before the commencement of each game in his honour. This tribute will take place during the MTN FA Cup semi-final matches as well as the Women’s Premier League final scheduled for this weekend.
“The GFA counts on the full cooperation of all clubs and the fans in respectfully observing these arrangements as we collectively pay tribute to Dominic Frimpong,” the statement added.
The FA expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their understanding and support in these times.
