Health personnel taking screening of some people

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Doxa Temple Assembly has organised a free health screening and blood donation at the church’s premises located at Osu-Nyaniba, Estates in Accra last week with a call to promote healthy lifestyles among Ghanaians.

As part of the Church’s 10^th anniversary, the health screening was among the activities slated to mark the celebration, where patrons were screened of Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Body Mass Index (BMI), Malaria, and Anaemia among others.

Dubbed “Know Your Health,” individuals living in and around Osu, La Dade-Kotopon and its environs participated in the health screening and blood donation exercise, and were also educated on healthy lifestyle practices.

The “Know Your Health” screening exercise was to promote good health habits to help prevent diseases including hypertension, diabetes, and other health complications.

In an interview with The Spectator, Pastor Michael Nyarko Ampem said it was significant to celebrate Doxa Temple’s 10^th anniversary as an appreciation to God for how far he has brought the church throughout its formative stages.

According to him, the health screening was symbolic to appreciate the community where Doxa Temple is situated and community members have lived cordially with them in peace.

“The community has been phenomenal in providing the church a good ambience and harmonious environment to worship God, and we are grateful for that, so it was also important to give back to them through health screening”, he emphasised.

He commended the church for their uniqueness in fellowshipping together as one family where love is shown to each and every member devoid of discrimination.

The Man of God encouraged the community and Doxa Temple to partner and undertake developmental projects in the community.

Pastor Kelly Adjei, who echoed on the importance of the health screening said it was a corporate social responsibility which the church embarked on to help in maintaining and campaigning on the need for living healthy lifestyles in the community.

He admonished participants and the public to discard unhealthy practices that endanger their lives including smoking, excessive intake of salt, fat and sugar that pose a risk of getting high blood pressure and diabetes.

Mr. Samuel Fosu, Committee Chairman of ICGC Doxa Temple 10^th anniversary commended the healthcare organisations who partnered with the church to help restore healthy lifestyles among Ghanaians.

He thanked the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly for playing a phenomenal role in making announcement to the community members about the health screening.

“The church, which commenced on January 29, 2012 has seen an unprecedented growth by the grace of God and 2022 marks its 10^th year anniversary, so we need to celebrate it unto the Lord”, he said.

Mr Stephen Danso, Blood Programme Officer at the National Blood Bank commended the initiative of ICGC Doxa Temple for organising a blood donation campaign to help stock the national blood bank, as a means of saving lives.

He called on other Faith-based organisations to emulate Doxa Temple’s effort to help stock the national blood bank.
