The launch of the maiden Black Citizenship Music Awards and Festival is set for February in Accra with a focus on promoting Ghanaian culture and music.

The move, spearheaded by multi-talented Ghanaian musician, Double-D, is geared at bringing Africans or black citizens together and share the vision to promote African culture and heritage.

In an interview with The Spectator Agoro, Double-D, (real name Emmanuel Emmel Kwame Edem Doe- Bruce) said, the event would also be held in the US this year as part of efforts to bring black descendants in the diaspora.

“It would feature speeches, music, dance and exhibition of great African culture to the people within and outside the country,” he stated.

Double-D, who is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eml Entertainment Limited and Greater Accra Regional Organiser of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) called on all black citizens to come on board especially in February which had been set aside as the Black Citizenship Month.

Double-D also announced the release of his new Extended Play (EP) which has great urban gospel songs including ‘Thank God’, ‘Destiny Changer’, ‘Precious Lord’, ‘Alpha and Omega’ and ‘Destiny Child.’

“These are motivational songs that would guide the youth especially in this period where there are a lot of vices,” he explained.

“Let us promote our local songs instead of the foreign ones. There are great artists here in Ghana and the mainstream ones must support the younger ones to make it onto the big stages,” he added.

He also called on corporate Ghana and the government to invest in local talents in a bid to promote the country globally.

Popular Ghanaian content creator, Elvis Frimpong, known in showbiz circles as Osanju has been reported dead.

According to sources, he was said to have died in the early hours on Monday, September 1, 2025 after a long battle with blood cancer (Leukemia)

His death has been a shock in the Ghanaian community especially coming shortly after his last post.

His demise comes five months after he had laid his mother, Amounu, also a tiktoker, to rest, having lost her in January.

Hours before his passing, he had posted a video on Sunday with friends watching the Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano match, prompting many fans to initially dismiss the reports as a hoax.

Osanju’s death has been described as a huge loss by followers who admired his openness, resilience and positive outlook in the face of ill health.

However, Osanju had previously shared his battle with leukemia, a cancer of the blood, on his TikTok account, even eerily predicting his own demise on a couple of occasions.
