Asante Kotoko beat Berekum Chelsea

Asante Kotoko scored in the first half to beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday.
The Porcupine Warriors, roared on by the home crowd, shot into the lead through Steven Mukwala in the 41st minute.
The forward got on the end of a beautiful team work to smash home the match winner. Richmond Lamptey started the build up from midfield where he sent a through ball to Isaac Oppong before Dese Mukwala fired home.
Asante Kotoko went into the game, looking to make it three wins out of three games after going past Medeama SC and Legon Cities in their last two Premier League games.
The Reds dominated play and created some decent chances in search of the lead but their onslaught paid off in the 41st minute through Steven Mukwala.
Back from the break – Berekum Chelsea had other ideas but the defence of Asante Kotoko stood firm to deny them.
Mizack Afriyie and Collins Ameyaw made way for Ansu Kofi Patrick and Zacheus Ndego in the second half. The substitutes injected energy into the game as Berekum Chelsea chased for the equalizer.
Substitute Patrick Ansu missed a good chance to level matters in the 85th minute but the former Medeama SC forward fluffed the chance as Asante Kotoko held on for the three points.
In the other game, Kwabena Boateng and Joseph Mireku got on target for Legon Cities in their 2-0 win over Accra Great Olympics.
Kwabena Boateng opened the scoring inside 56 minutes before Joseph Mireku wrapped up the win in the 96th minute.
Both sides ended the game with red cards after Christopher Nakai Nettey and Michael Yeboah of Great Olympics, were shown the exit, while Legon Cities finished with ten men after Joseph Amoah was sent off.
