Oly aim to upset Aduana Stars
League leaders Aduana Stars will look to stretch their lead on the betPawa Premier League log when they lock horns with Accra Great Olympics at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, today.
Aduana Stars was moved to the venue due to a temporary ban from their home ground following an incident that saw Tamale City players and officials attacked after their matchday 25 game.
Focused on winning the league diadem for the third time in the club’s history, Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin believes the dream was on course, although they are playing away from their favourite grounds.
However, they would have it tough considering Olympics’ resolve to salvage at least a point to boost their battle for survival.
It will be a nervy battle at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium today when new boys Tamale City play host to second-placed Bechem United.
Tamale City is currently engaged in a relegation dogfight with Kotoku Royals, Legon Cities, Great Olympics, and Dreams FC and would need all the points available to move off the drop zone.
Having suffered defeat in their last game against the Aduana Stars, with some players also suffering injuries from the attack that followed, City will bang their hopes on home support to spur them on to victory.
For the visitors, having drawn 0-0 with the same side back in Bechem in December, this game presents an opportunity to further their title aspirations by grabbing all three points to close the gap on Aduana.
Tomorrow, the environs of Tarkwa and beyond will come to a standstill when Karela United ‘jets’ into town to face-off with Medeama SC at Akoon Park.
Games between the two neighbours have left fans asking for more, and this duel will be no exception.
Medeama is on a good run of form at home; that run has seen them dispatch the likes of Samartex 1996, Legon Cities, Berekum Chelsea, Great Olympics, and lately Bibiani Gold Stars.
However, Head Coach Shaibu Tanko of Karela United believes his side would not be added to the casualties.
Steadily rising on the log, King Faisal would be at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex to host Dreams FC.
In other games, relegation-threatened Legon Cities will be looking to snatch all three points off visiting Kotoku Royals when they clash at the El Wak Stadium.
At the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Real Tamale United will look to lift themselves out of the 12th position when they welcome Gold Stars.
Elsewhere, Samartex 1996 will be at home at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex to face Accra Lions, while Accra Hearts of Oak host new boys Nsoatreman FC under the floodlights at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Health Minister leads delegation Mimi Darko’s appointment as AMA Director General
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Health and Member of Parliament has led a delegation to secure the appointment of Dr Delese Mimi Darko, Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority, as the Director General of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) during the ongoing 2nd Ordinary Session of the Conference of State Parties in Kigali, Rwanda.
This prestigious appointment, achieved through a competitive process, marks a proud and historic moment for Ghana and the entire continent.
It highlights Dr. Darko’s exceptional leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to enhancing public health and regulatory systems across Africa.
The Minister expressed his deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his strong support and leadership throughout this process.
Mr.Akandoh congratulated Dr. Mimi Darko and Team Ghana for their incredibly successful campaign.

Police arrest five suspects involved in robbery cases in Ashanti Region
The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in the Ashanti Region has informed the public about a recent breakthrough in the fight against armed robbery in the Denchemuoso District.
Following a series of robbery incidents in the area, on April 22, 2025, PID/Ashanti operatives, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended one Michael Owusu Ansah, alias Baby Last, aged 32.
The suspect had been on the police wanted list since 2016 in connection with a robbery and the murder of Police Officer G/Cpl Frank Essel of SWAT/Ashanti, which occurred at the Open Space Hotel in Denchemuoso on May 19, 2016.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to engaging in multiple street and residential robberies in Denchemuoso, Atwima-Techiman, Asuoyeboah, and surrounding areas.
He also disclosed that his gang operated with knives, pistols, and pump-action guns.
Further investigations led to the identification and arrest of his accomplices, namely:Emmanuel Owusu, alias Cassidy, Maxwell Gyimah, alias Nana Kwame, Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah, alias The Man Sudais and Rhano Okyere, alias Demon
These individuals were arrested from their hideouts within Atwima-Techiman and Denchemuoso.
However, one suspect, remains at large and efforts are underway to apprehend him and recover the weapons used in the robberies.
All five arrested suspects were arraigned before the Atasomanso Circuit Court on May 13, 2025.
They were remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear on June 4, 2025.
