MoMoFest x ShattaFest 2026 boost Ghana cashless economy

The successful staging of MoMoFest x ShattaFest 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium has highlighted how entertainment can accelerate Ghana’s digital financial economy, as MobileMoney Limited brought mobile payments closer to consumers, traders and small businesses.
By embedding digital payments into a major entertainment event, the company turned the festival into a live marketplace where patrons used the MoMo App to pay for food, clothing and other products while enjoying the show.
Alongside transactions, MobileMoney LTD educated festival-goers and vendors on fraud prevention, including how to safeguard accounts and recognise scam tactics.
The collaboration brought Shatta Wale and his management together with MobileMoney LTD leadership to use entertainment to promote digital finance and youth entrepreneurship.
According to Chief Executive Officer Mr Shaibu Haruna, the partnership leverages entertainment’s influence to encourage young people to pursue business opportunities and support small-business development.
The success of this year’s event has raised prospects for expanding the model beyond Ghana.
For traders and small businesses, the festival provided access to a large customer base while accepting digital payments, reducing the need to handle large amounts of cash, simplifying collection and providing transaction records for sales tracking.
For customers, it offered a practical opportunity to experience mobile payments as part of an ordinary purchase.
The integration matters because a cashless economy depends not only on access to technology but on people having regular, convenient reasons to use it.
The MoMoFest x ShattaFest partnership shows how collaboration between entertainment and fintech can bring digital financial services to new audiences while creating commercial opportunities for small businesses.
As mobile and contactless payments gain acceptance, the model could be replicated at festivals, sporting events and cultural celebrations.
For MobileMoney LTD, the initiative provides a platform to encourage adoption while supporting traders and young entrepreneurs.

Empress Gifty releases “Sunsum Ndwom”

GHANAIAN gospel heavyweight, Empress Gifty, has released a spirit-filled song titled “Sunsum Ndwom.”
The song, which is already making waves shortly after its release, is delivered in three parts, each carrying a powerful message.

The second part centres on salvation, urging believers not to celebrate only power and miracles, but to celebrate the fact that their names are written in the Book of Life, because that is what lasts forever.
The third part celebrates the beauty of God’s healing power, a song originally composed by her late mother.
The gospel star is urging Ghanaians to stream the song on all platforms and encounter its powerful lyrics.
She also stressed the need to preserve Ghana’s traditional gospel sound, expressing hope that the new generation will embrace their heritage.
Empress Gifty further expressed appreciation to all stakeholders in the industry who have supported her career over the years.
