JUTTA Ama Pokuah Addo, a Law student at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) was crowned the winner of the Miss Ghana 2025 edition held over the weekend at the Avenue Event Centre in Accra.
The first runner-up was Maud Anti Oduro, while Melissa A-Montah, placed third.
The national event brought together young women from each of Ghana’s regions, all vying for the prestigious title.
Jutta, representing the Central Region, beat the other contestants after weeks of intense competition.
The feat grants her the opportunity to represent Ghana at the 72nd Miss World Festival, to be held in Telangana, India, on May 7-31.
Miss Jutta Addo, who also won awards for Miss Photogenic and Miss Social Media/Voting, charmed the judges and audience with her eloquence, grace, and dedication to her advocacy.
As the new Miss Ghana, she will embark on a year of service, ambassadorial duties, and preparation for the Miss World competition which takes place in India.
The contestants were judged not only on beauty but also on their intelligence, public speaking skills, and commitment to social causes.
The finale was a glamorous occasion, graced by personalities such as Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame, who delivered a lively performance that had the audience on their feet with his great hits. Songstress Lucya, Acoustic Frey and DJ Ryna also serenaded the crowd with their soulful melodies, adding to the night’s unforgettable moments.
The night also celebrated other outstanding contestants with special awards, including Most Beautiful Skin – Miss Maud Anti Oduro; Miss Fitness – Miss Emmanuella Kudjordji; Most Disciplined – Miss Priscilla Nutornutsi; Miss Congeniality – Miss Melissa Mintah and Miss Talent – Miss Stella Saka.
Others include Miss Eloquence – Miss Theresa Weyerane; Miss Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) went to four contestants as they touched the hearts of many with their projects.
They are Miss Melissa Mintah, Miss Jutta Addo, Miss Naa Ayeley Hammond and Miss Nana Adjoa and Miss Top Model, Emmanuella Kudjordji.
For 68 years, Miss Ghana has produced outstanding ambassadors who champion social causes and represent Ghana on global stages.
Miss Ghana was founded by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president and 68 years on, celebrated beauty, intelligence, and the impactful legacy of Ghana’s most iconic pageant.

Grace Nortey dies at age 89

Veteran Ghanaian Actress Grace Nortey has reportedly passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2026.
According to reports she passed away at University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) at age 89.
Born in 1937, she embarked on her acting journey in 1970, establishing herself as one of the pioneers of theatre and drama in Ghana.
Over four decades, Grace Nortey has been a consistent source of joy for Ghanaian TV audiences through her acting prowess.
A distinctive feature of Grace Nortey’s performances was her adept incorporation of the Ga language into her roles, adding an authentic touch to her portrayals.
Her acting journey kicked off with the 1985 release, “Nana Akoto,” and she went on to contribute to notable films such as “Sinking Sands,” “The Other Side of the Rich,” “Ties that Bind,” and “Beasts of No Nation,” where she shared the screen with Idris Elba, Fred Amugi, and Ama K. Abebrese.
She earned the Best Cameo Actress at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards.

2026 Israeli Film Festival slated for Silverbird Cinema tomorrow
The Embassy of Israel in Ghana will hold the 2026 Israeli Film Festival tomorrow at the Silverbird Cinema at the Accra Mall.
The one-day event will feature both Israeli and Ghanaian films. According to organisers the festival aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between the people of Ghana and Israel through cinema.
Admission is free. Film lovers can attend screenings at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The programme includes the Israeli films The Milky Way and Matchmaking. It will also feature the Ghanaian films Smokes and Mirrors and Unfinished Ride.
Visitors will enjoy free popcorn and also have the chance to take part in a raffle.
The Culture Attaché at the Embassy of Israel in Ghana, Mrs Nitza Gilad, said the festival offers people the opportunity to learn about different cultures through film.
“We are very excited to welcome the Ghanaian public once again to the Israeli Film Festival. Film gives us an opportunity to enter one another’s worlds, experience different stories and discover the things we share despite our different backgrounds,” she said.
Mrs Gilad added that she was pleased to see Israeli and Ghanaian films being shown on the same platform. She invited students, filmmakers, families, young people and all lovers of cinema to attend the festival and enjoy the experience.
According to the organisers, last year’s festival was successful and helped provide a platform for emerging Ghanaian filmmakers while promoting cultural exchange.
This year’s event is expected to bring together audiences from different backgrounds for a day of storytelling, learning and entertainment.
