The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Agbodza, has confirmed that government has allocated an additional GH¢3 billion to support the completion of the revised three tier Suame Interchange project in Kumasi.

Mr Agbodza explained that claims of selective funding surrounding the project are misplaced.

He stressed that no funds have been diverted from the original project, adding that the extra allocation is meant to strengthen road infrastructure within the Kumasi road network.

According to him, more than GH¢3 billion has been committed specifically to works on the outer ring road, which forms a key part of the broader road improvement plan for the Ashanti Region.

Mr Agbodza noted that government is determined to ensure that residents of Kumasi receive full value for money through the successful execution of the project.

Touching on funding availability, the Roads and Highways Minister indicated that the Minister for Finance is fully committed to resourcing government priority projects.

He explained that funding decisions are being guided by the need to address real challenges facing citizens rather than for political convenience.
