 Adisadel Old Boys Association supports brilliant but needy students

 The Adisadel Old Boys Association of North America (AOBA NA) has announced the 2025 recipients of its esteemed scholarship programme to enable them to pursue higher edu­cation.

The initiative, according to a state­ment from the Association signed by its President Dr Leonard Wryter, was to empower and support the next gener­ation of leaders, thinkers, and change makers.

The scholarship programme rec­ognises and rewards exceptional students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership potential, and commit to community service.

Despite financial challenges, the bright individuals have shown remark­able achievements, hence the Asso­ciation is dedicated to helping them reach their full potential.

On academic excellence, the association celebrates outstanding academic achievements, exceptional scholarship performance and nurture a passion for learning.

For leadership development, the association invests in cultivating leaders who would shape the future, as their programme fosters leadership skills, responsibility, and innovation among recipients, the statement explained.

On community impact, the state­ment noted that giving back was a core value of the Adisadel spirit.

“We prioritise scholars who active­ly engage in community service and strive to make a positive difference,” it said.

The association, according to the statement was also committed to breaking the poverty cycle and ex­panding opportunities for disenfran­chised students.

“By supporting their educational journey, we empower them to con­tribute to the civic and economic development of their communities and the world at large,” it added.

For the 2025 academic year, the AOBA NA Scholarship Committee received numerous applications from highly qualified Adisadel Col­lege graduates and although limited financial resources constrained their selections, they awarded full and par­tial scholarships to eight exceptional individuals.

Beneficiaries are Caleb McBanson, Kwame Nkrumah University of Sci­ence and Technology (KNUST), BSc. Architecture (Silver); Prince Malcom, KNUST, BSc. Human Biology (Plat­inum); Emmanuel Oppong, KNUST, BSc. Electrical Engineering (Plati­num); and Jerry Elikplim, KNUST, Doc­tor of Pharmacy, (Platinum).

The rest are Ernest Domful, Uni­versity of Cape Coast (UCC), BCom in Accounting, (Silver); Stanley Amon, UCC, BA in Information Science (Silver); Daniel Pratt, University of Ghana (UG), BSc in Administration (Silver); David Agyare, UG, BSc in Medicine and BSc in Surgery (Silver).

The statement explained that the silver package was a partial scholar­ship giving tuition assistance while the Platinum Package offered a full scholarship covering tuition, lodging and stipend assistance.

The statement explained that this year marks the seventh anniversary of the AOBA NA Scholarship Programme, which had supported 15 alumni in their tertiary education.

Two arrested over robbery attack on Berekum Chelsea team

The Police have arrested two suspects, including the alleged gang leader, in connection with the robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea football team that resulted in the death of one of the players.

According to a Police update, the arrests were made after intelligence-led operations by security personnel.

One of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with the police.

He has since been taken to a hospital where he is receiving medical treatment, while the other suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations.

The Police indicated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang linked to the attack.

They assured the public that more details will be provided as investigations progress.

Mahama arrives in Brazzaville for Congo president’s investiture

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Brazzaville to attend the investiture ceremony of Denis Sassou N’Guesso.

The ceremony follows the re-election of President Sassou N’Guesso for another five year term as leader of the Republic of the Congo.

President Mahama travelled to Brazzaville shortly after launching his Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa.

He is expected to return to Accra after the ceremony scheduled for Thursday morning.
