Stand for the truth at all times — Elder Aboagye urges youth
The Pastor in-charge of the New Tafo Akim branch of the Full Gospel Church International in the Easter Region, Elder Wonder Amingo Aboagye, has admonished the youth to stand for the truth at all times.
This, he said, was the only way they would gain the favour of man and God.
Speaking in an interview with The Spectator on the future of the youth and false prophets after the church’s first 2021 Sunday service, Elder Aboagye advised the youth to resist falsehood.
According to him, truth stood tall against falsehood and whoever practised the latter would never succeed in life.
“Truth is truth, falsehood is falsehood and truth always stands tall against falsehood but destruction waits for whoever engages in the latter” he stated.
Elder Aboagye asked the youth especially Christians to sit up to resist the false prophets in the society.
He said the future could be bleak for the country if the youth did not seek knowledge from the Bible and pursue formal education.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children,” Elder quoted the Book of Hosea 4:6.
According to him, the so called prophets practised occultism, used magical powers to tell the future and employed evil practices to perform other superhuman activities to deceive the public that whatever they (false prophets) did came from God.
Elder Aboagye urged Christian leaders not to underestimate the false prophets but should teach the congregation the word of God to enable the members easily detect and to decode the deception of such people in the society, easily.
“How can an end time true man or woman of God lie or deceive, cheat or steal, fornicate or commit adultery, visit satanic shrines and cults, maim and murder, create divisions and wars, give false visions or dreams and give fake predictions both in politics and other social devices?” he said.
He entreated Christian leaders to consistently pray for the youth and teach them the true word of God to enable them overcome the evil traps of the so called vociferous and ferocious human wolves.
Elder Aboagye appealed to the youth not to wait for any day or 31st night of December before they make resolution or wait for a man of God to bless them to see changes in their lives.
Rather, they should be disciplined and position themselves strategically to see opportunities in whatever situation that would come their way.
Elder Aboagye entreated the government to channel enough funds into education especially the Technical, Vocational and Science sectors for the fast development of the nation, and above all appealed to the leadership of the nation to let God lead in all aspect of the economy.

Go beyond degrees to lead Ghana …Afenyo-Markin charges youth

MR Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader in Parliament, has urged Ghana’s youth to look beyond their academic laurels and take responsibility to lead the country.
He said, “Beyond the degree lies leadership. Beyond the degree lies innovation. Beyond the degree lies responsibility.”
Mr Afenyo-Markin made the remarks last Saturday when he delivered the keynote address at the “Beyond the Degree Conference 2026” in Winneba.
He lamented the high rate of youth unemployment in Ghana, citing a report by the Ghana Statistical Service which indicated that youth unemployment remained disproportionately high compared to other age groups.
“The government, through the Minister of Health, told us last year that it cannot employ all 74,000 trained nurses by the end of 2026. Similarly, thousands of teacher trainees remain at home, waiting for opportunities that have not materialised,” he said.
Mr Afenyo-Markin, who is also the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, emphasised that education must be understood as more than classroom learning or the certificate received at the end of studies, but as a foundation for responsible citizenship and leadership.
“The true purpose of education is far greater. Education shapes the mind to think critically, the heart to act ethically, and the hands to work diligently,” he said.
He urged the youth to develop competence, integrity, and resilience, and to take initiative in shaping the country’s future.
“Ghana needs a generation of young leaders who are committed to shaping institutions, influencing policy and holding systems accountable,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, technical skills, and digital innovation in creating opportunities for the youth.
“The future of Ghana cannot be built by job seekers alone. It must also be built by job creators,” he emphasised.

COTA moves to tackle insecurity, leadership disputes in Teshie

THE Coalition of Teshie Associations (COTA) has announced plans to address longstanding leadership disputes and security concerns in the Teshie community while promoting peace and youth empowerment ahead of the 2026 Homowo Festival.
The coalition said the initiative formed part of efforts to foster unity among the five quarters of Teshie, namely Kle Musum, Lenshie, Agbawe, Krobo, and Gbugbla.
The announcement was made during a unity walk, organised in collaboration with COTA and Laboma Beach Resort, on Saturday in Accra. The event was sponsored by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Resort, Dr Albert Tetteh Kwarshie Botchway.
More than 2,000 participants joined the walk through the principal streets of Teshie, starting from the Laboma Beach Resort, to promote peace and highlight the need for harmony within the community.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Botchway said peace among the youth was essential for the development of the community. He noted that when young people embraced peace, it creates an enabling environment for development and improved social interventions in the area.
He also indicated that several activities had been planned to promote unity and harmony in the community ahead of the Homowo Festival in August 2026. These would include indoor and outdoor games, competitive sports among community groups, and weekly peace messages broadcast through the public address system.
In his remarks, the Chairman of COTA, Alfred Amarh Lienks, explained that the leadership disagreements among the various quarters had in the past created uncertainty for investors and organisations seeking to support development in Teshie. He, however, stated that the situation was not driven by ill intent but rather by the desire of different leaders to see development in the community.
According to him, the coalition was working to strengthen coordination among community leaders to create a more unified front for development initiatives. To address the situation, he revealed that the coalition was establishing a task force that would be stationed at key junctions in the community to enhance security and protect both residents and ride-hailing drivers.
Meanwhile, the Kpeshie Divisional Commander, ACP Emmanuel Odonkor Baah, urged the youth to stay away from violent activities and support efforts to maintain peace in the community.
