Actor Prince David Osei has called on President Akufo-Addo to institute measures to rescue Ghana’s economy.
In a post on Instagram, the actor told the President that even though there is a global crisis the situation in Ghana smacks of negligence.
He stated that President Akufo-Addo and his ministers are only looking on as citizens struggle to make a living for themselves day in and day out.
“Mr President! With all due respect Mr President, why are you sleeping on Ghanaians…This is not acceptable Mr President. We deserve better, we know there are global crises and hardships. Yes, we know!”
He added that “but looks like you and your ministers are determined to inflict untoward hardship on the citizenry. I decided to give you and your government the benefit of the doubt, I reckon I was wrong!”
Prince David Osei said that people are only looking for an improvement in the county and their lives and if dismissing incompetent people is the way to achieve that he should do so.
The actor threatened to mobilise the youth in December 2022 irrespective of their party affirmations and demonstrate against the government.
“The Youth of this nation are not smiling, it pours, but we are still sweating.. If things don’t change by December, we will mobilize the youth of this country and hit the street irrespective of party affiliations, whether NPP, NDC, CQQ, PNC whatever, doesn’t matter now, we are all in this together…God bless our motherland We want to see improvement in our livelihoods,” he added.
For his post, the actor shared screenshots of some news items explaining the current state of Ghana’s economy.
One of such included Ghana being ranked 1st by the World Bank with the highest food prices in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2022.
According to the Bretton Wood institution’s October 2022 Africa Pulse Report, food prices have since January 1, 2022, gone up by 122%.
Food inflation in Ghana has been high, recording year-on-year inflation of 34.4% in August 2022, the Ghana Statistical Service disclosed.
On a month-on-month basis, inflation was even higher.
The drivers of food inflation in Ghana are Oils and Fats (67%); Fish and Other Seafood (42.9%); Water (42%); Cereal products (40%); Milk, Diary Products and Eggs (39.7%), Fruits and Vegetable Juices (37.7%) and Live Animals and Meat (34.5%). All of the items recorded inflation rates higher than the national average of 33.9%.
Also, the dollar has hit the ¢11 to $1 mark as some forex bureaus in parts of Accra are selling a dollar at an average of ¢11.2 on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Checks by Joy Business indicate that the demand for the dollar keeps surging, as there are very few dollars in circulation.

It was a night of intellect, eloquence and culture as contestants of the 2026 Miss Tourism Ghana took centre stage at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel for the Debate and Culture Night last Saturday.
The event, which forms part of activities leading up to the grand finale, saw the ladies move beyond beauty to battle with ideas, facts and opinions on a topic critical to the tourism industry.
The contestants debated the topic: The Importance of Traditional and Digital Media on Promotion of Tourism.
For the debate, the contestants were grouped into two teams of four, each tasked with defending a side of the argument.
It was a fierce but respectful exchange. The team arguing for traditional media described it as the trust builder, emphasising its credibility, mass reach, and its power to tell in-depth, emotional stories through television documentaries, radio and newspaper features.
They argued that traditional media still shapes public opinion and influences policy decisions in the tourism sector.
On the other side, the proponents of digital media raised salient points about its unmatched advantages in the modern era.
They highlighted its global reach at low cost, its two-way interaction that allows tourists to share real experiences and reviews, its ability to target specific audiences, and its measurable results where clicks, views and bookings can be tracked.
After heated arguments and rebuttals, both teams arrived at a powerful consensus that drew applause from the audience.
They concluded that without traditional media, tourism promotion lacks credibility and depth, and without digital media, it lacks reach, engagement and sales.
The judges and patrons agreed that the debate underscored a crucial lesson for Ghana’s tourism drive: for a country blessed with rich cultural heritage, colourful festivals, historic forts and castles, diverse wildlife and pristine beaches, the winning formula lies in combining the storytelling power of traditional media with the viral power of digital media to attract both domestic and international tourists.
The night was not only about debate, as the contestants also dazzled in cultural wear, showcasing the beauty and diversity of Ghanaian culture.

Veteran Ghanaian Actress Grace Nortey has reportedly passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2026.
According to reports she passed away at University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) at age 89.
Born in 1937, she embarked on her acting journey in 1970, establishing herself as one of the pioneers of theatre and drama in Ghana.
Over four decades, Grace Nortey has been a consistent source of joy for Ghanaian TV audiences through her acting prowess.
A distinctive feature of Grace Nortey’s performances was her adept incorporation of the Ga language into her roles, adding an authentic touch to her portrayals.
Her acting journey kicked off with the 1985 release, “Nana Akoto,” and she went on to contribute to notable films such as “Sinking Sands,” “The Other Side of the Rich,” “Ties that Bind,” and “Beasts of No Nation,” where she shared the screen with Idris Elba, Fred Amugi, and Ama K. Abebrese.
She earned the Best Cameo Actress at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards.
