Praise Achievement Awards call for nominations

Organisers of Praise Achievement Awards have announced opening of nominations for the maiden edition this year.

According to them, churches, gospel artistes, artiste managers, producers, associations, record labels and the general public have been encouraged to file for songs and artistes they believe deserve a place in the nomination.

In an interview with The Spectator, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr.Dennis Anderson said, nomination for submission was opened from now till March 20.

He said that songs and works released from 2019-2022 qualified under the calendar year of the scheme to be nominated.

Mr.Anderson further revealed that after deliberations by the board on what had been submitted, annoucement of the nominees would be made on April 20.

The categories up for grabs include, Christian Event of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Best Christian Radio Station, Best Christian Radio of the Year, Best Gospel Group, Female Vocalist of the Year, Gospel DJ of the Year, Best Christian Blogger of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year.

Other categories are, Inspirational Song of the Year, Best Gospel Group, Worship Song of the Year, Urban Gospel Artiste of the Year, Praise Artiste of the Year, Worship Artiste of the Year, Best Gospel Music Video, Christian Movie of the Year, Best Chorale Group, New Artiste of the Year, Producer of the Year and Inspirational Song of the Year among others.

The maiden Praise Achievement Award was launched was held at Bayview Village Event Centre at Atomic Junction in Accra on December 30 last year.

Inna Patty Called to the Bar of England

Ms. Inna Mariam Patty, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Exclusive Events Ghana, was called on Tuesday to the Bar of England and Wales at a ceremony held by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. She earned a distinction from the University of Law after completing the Bar Practice Course and received the Dean’s Award for Excellence Scholarship.

The former beauty queen stated that she sees law as a continuation of her purpose, using it as a tool for empowerment, justice, and social impact, particularly for women and vulnerable communities. Ms. Patty, who currently serves on the Board of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital and chairs the Miss Ghana Foundation, said that law has always aligned with her bigger plans, and she was glad to have finally fulfilled her dreams.

Miss Patty holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, a GDL and BPC with Distinction from the University of Law, and a certificate in Mediation and Negotiation. Her legal training has included judicial shadowing at the Business and Property Courts and Immigration and Asylum Chamber, as well as pro bono work at the Immigration Tribunal (Taylor House), reflecting her passion for justice.

Among the notable personalities present were Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mrs. Zita Benson and her husband Mr. Bobby Benson, Mr. Kwabena Osei-Danquah, Chief of Staff at the Commonwealth Secretariat, London, and Eileen Baguma, General Manager of EIB Network, Founder and President of Women in Sustainability Africa.
