Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has pledged to rebuild the party, promote unity and restore confidence among its members ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 5, 2026, Mr Boadu expressed gratitude to the party’s delegates and rank-and-file members for the confidence reposed in him.
He thanked his campaign team, volunteers and supporters, saying their commitment and support contributed to his victory.
Mr Boadu described the outcome as a victory for the entire NPP rather than an achievement for one person or group.
He extended an invitation to his fellow contestants to work with him, saying their ideas, experience and commitment remained valuable to the party.
“From this moment, there are no winners and losers, only one NPP, united in purpose and determined to win in 2028,” he said.
Mr Boadu said he would work with the newly elected national officers, regional and constituency executives, the Council of Elders, external branches, Members of Parliament, TESCON, voluntary groups, communicators and other stakeholders to strengthen the party.
He pledged to rebuild the party’s structures, promote discipline and ensure that members feel valued, heard and protected.
He promised to uphold the integrity of the party’s internal elections and reconnect with young people, particularly by restoring the NPP’s presence in tertiary institutions.
According to him, the party must make tertiary institutions centres for constructive political engagement and leadership development.
Mr Boadu further stressed the importance of inclusiveness, saying unity within the NPP should not mean that members must have identical views.
“Unity does not mean uniformity. Our diverse experiences are a source of strength, and I pledge to lead with an open door: to listen, consult and embrace good ideas, wherever they come from,” he said.
He said the task of rebuilding the NPP could not be left to the national chairman, general secretary, flagbearer or any single group.
“The future of the NPP will not be built by one Chairman, one General Secretary, one Flagbearer or one group. It will be built by all of us,” he said.
Mr Boadu pledged to lead with humility, consultation and reconciliation as he prepares the party for the 2028 elections.
He said his administration would work to rebuild trust, restore confidence and return the NPP to what he described as its winning ways.

Ghana warns citizens over fake jobs and forced cybercrime in Zambia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Ghanaians seeking employment in Zambia to be cautious of fraudulent job offers that could expose them to human trafficking and forced involvement in cybercrime.
The warning follows the arrest of six Ghanaians in Lusaka, Zambia, during a joint operation by the Zambia Police Service, the Drug Enforcement Commission and the Department of Immigration on August 23, 2026.
According to the Ministry, the operation targeted a facility suspected of being involved in organised cybercrime activities and led to the arrest of 79 people, including 10 Zambians and 69 foreign nationals.
The Ministry said six of the foreign nationals arrested were Ghanaians.
It explained that reports received by the Ghana High Commission in Lusaka indicated that some of those arrested had been recruited through what appeared to be legitimate employment opportunities, including online data entry jobs.
However, the Ministry said some were allegedly forced into online scam activities after their passports were confiscated by their employers.
It warned that the situation highlights how human trafficking groups are using fake employment opportunities to lure unsuspecting job seekers into illegal activities.
The Ministry has therefore advised Ghanaians travelling to Zambia or seeking employment there to thoroughly verify job offers, recruitment agencies and prospective employers before travelling.
Ghanaians living in Zambia have also been urged to remain vigilant when responding to online job opportunities and maintain regular contact with the Ghana High Commission in Lusaka for consular assistance when necessary.
The Ministry said the government remains committed to protecting the welfare and interests of Ghanaians travelling to or living outside the country.
