Tanzanian referee Ahmed Ally Arajiga has been appointed to officiate the Group D encounter between Ghana and Algeria at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place at 19:00 GMT in Rabat as both teams begin their campaign in the continental championship.
Arajiga will be assisted by fellow Tanzanian Serif Mpanga Kassim, who will serve as Assistant Referee One, while Brianson Musisi of Uganda takes up the role of Assistant Referee Two.
The fourth official for the game will be Hillary Hambaba, with Yassine Saadaoui of Tunisia serving as the reserve assistant referee.
CAF has also named Justin Mumba of Zambia as the match commissioner for the encounter, while Paulin Samuel has been appointed referees assessor.
The General Coordinator for the match will be Abdelmoughit Rhrzzali of Morocco. Mark Anthony Fish will head the Technical Study Group, while Bassma Chehbane will serve as the Commercial Officer.
Media duties for the game will be handled by Amine Benmellouk, while Sidiki Boubakary will also assist in media operations.
Security arrangements for the fixture will be overseen by Abdelali Hammouti, with Ahmed Khatib acting as assistant coordinator. The medical officer for the game will also be under CAF’s designated operational team.
The Black Starlets head into the game determined to make a strong start to their AFCON campaign after weeks of intensive preparations in Morocco under Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Agyei Baffuor, has broken his silence on his confrontation with a woman who identified herself as an official of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Speaking during the Minority’s engagement with the media on Wednesday, the lawyer said his decision not to comply with the woman’s directive was driven purely by fear for his personal safety.
According to him, the circumstances under which the woman approached him were suspicious, leading him to believe it could have been a kidnapping attempt.
“I refused to follow the woman who identified herself as an EOCO official because, I feared she wanted to kidnap me,” Lawyer Baffuor told journalists.
He explained that the said official failed to properly identify herself in a manner that would assure him of his safety, and as such, he deemed it prudent not to follow her.
Lawyer Baffuor maintained that any law-abiding citizen would have acted in the same manner under similar circumstances, stressing that his action was not intended to obstruct justice but to protect his life.
The Minority, during the press engagement, called on security agencies to ensure that officials on lawful duties properly identify themselves and follow due process to avoid creating fear and panic among citizens.

The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in Côte d’Ivoire ahead of their highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire.
The team touched down in Bouaké on Wednesday morning after departing Accra, as preparations intensify for what promises to be a fierce West African derby.
In a post shared on social media, the Ghana Football Association announced the arrival with the caption: “From Accra to Bouaké. Black Stars have touched down for the AFCON qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire! “
Ghana will be looking to secure a vital result away from home on Thursday, September 24, as they continue their journey to qualify for the next edition of the AFCON.
The Elephants, playing on home soil, will be confident with the backing of their fans at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, but the Black Stars are expected to go all out for the crucial points.
The team is expected to hold a final training session today to fine-tune tactics before the showdown.
