FA Cup quarters: Can Skyy FC upset wounded Hearts?
Wounded Accra Hearts of Oak will be hoping to brush aside lower tier side Skyy FC when the two face off in the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium this afternoon.
The FA Cup is arguably Hearts’ only chance to win an additional silverware this season after rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko appear to have ran away with this season’s Ghana Premier League (GPL) title.
More devastating for Hearts, was the fact that they lost their last game to Kotoko and practically handed over the title to their sworn rivals.
With the President’s Cup already in their cabinet, the defending champions would be hoping to clinch the FA Cup to register a double, despite losing out in the race for the GPL title.
Skyy FC will be hosting Hearts at the Accra stadium, following the division one side’s home ban due to hooliganism.
Coach Samuel Boadu’s side is expected to take advantage of the situation and ease through to the semi finals and hopefully lift the trophy for the second consecutive time.
With the upsets usually associated with the FA Cup, Hearts would take the game by the scruff of the neck to avoid further disappointments.
The likes of Daniel Afriyie Barnie, Gladson Awako and Salim Adams would be expected to lead the Phobians to victory.
For Skyy FC, the pride of beating Hearts and advancing to the semi finals is worth fighting for and would play to the last drop of their blood to make history.
It promises to be an interesting encounter, especially for Skyy FC who would have a lot to prove against all odds.
