PROF KWABENA FRIMPONG BOATENG: Renowned, respected, and acclaimed cardiothoracic surgeon, who has done a whole lot for GHANA, trained many hearts surgeons across Africa, and sought the best for Ghana. He has done more for the people of Ghana than many of those seeking to demonise, intimidate, and disrespect him. I believe he is a man with a good heart who means well.

“People say that Ghana is not a country worth dying for … But I say, it is precisely for that reason that you have to die for Ghana,” he states. “If you want to die for an entity for which you expect something in return then that is no sacrifice. From my belief: what really did Jesus gain by coming down here to die for us? Why? It was very sacrificial.”

He goes on, “So, if you’re expecting something in return for something you do for an entity, NO, that is no sacrifice, So, I take it that I’ve done my job. And at the end of it all, when I’m no longer there, at the end of my life, I will say, ‘YES, I did my job. I TRIED TO MAKE GHANA A BETTER PLACE. I TRIED. With all my mistakes … but, I don’t think, with all these mistakes, you can find many people who have gone through and done what I’ve done in this country.”

This statement deserves to be engraved in gold for the reflection, education and emulation of every leader, every public official, and for every man or woman of goodwill.

This man would have been hailed a hero and national example in many countries.

He could have settled for a comfortable. He could have settled, easily, for the rich life of a millionaire doctor in the USA, for example.

Why unleash the Special Prosecutor on him and put him “under arrest” with a requirement for bail in the amount of two million cedis? Why do we hound the honest, and crown the criminals, greet the greedy, and hail the nation-wreckers? WHY?
