The Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has urged parents and guardians to prioritise Senior High Schools (SHS) within their regions when selecting schools for their wards.

That she explained, would reduce the challenges associated with changing schools after placement.

Ms Sowah explained that the approach would make the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement process easier for families during the enrollment of candidates in to SHS.

The MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs made the call when she presented assorted items to more than 400 Junior High School (JHS) graduates from the Constituency who had gained admission to various SHS across the country.

The items included mattresses, blankets and provisions such as oats, sugar, Milo, Nido and detergents to support the students as they prepare to begin their secondary education.

Addressing parents, guardians and students after the presentation, Ms Sowah said parents who carefully considered schools within their regions could help minimise such challenges while making the transition to secondary education less stressful for their wards.

The MP said that the school selection approach was particularly important because changing a student’s placement after the CSSPS process could create additional difficulties for families.

Ms Sowah assured parents that all qualified candidates would be placed in SHSs and urged them to remain calm during the placement process.

She said that government was taking measures to make secondary education more accessible and comfortable for students across the country.

The MP encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunities provided to them.

Expressing their appreciation, beneficiary parents and guardians stated that the gesture would go a long way to reduce the financial burden associated with preparation of their wards to SHS.
